Unable to see stomach lining at 12 wk scan

I am currently 12+4 pg with DC3. I had my scan last Thurs and the consultant doing the scan (I am considered High Risk due to 2 previous tears, hence under consultant) advised she couldn't see the baby's stomach lining and I would have to go back in a week to have a follow up scan. She went on to say it wasn't necessarily anything to worry about, she just needed to make sure the intestines and bowel went back in, which normally happens around 13 wks.

As the appointment nears I'm starting to worry about what she may (or may not) find.

Anyone out there had experience of something similiar?

TIA x

Hi, I'm sorry I can't help. I hope all goes well in your repeat scan. Good Luck. xx

I had similar issue when couldnt see stomach or kidneys clearly at 12 weeks (had lost a baby previously due to kidney abnormalities). First scan wasn't so high resolution so they told me to come back in a week.

I went privately for second opinion and saw it fine but they did say that doing scans nearer 13 weeks gave them best view/measure and that not all machines could pick up detail at 12 weeks.

It was horribly stressful tho waiting for that second opinion .

Thanks for your response ladies.

I had my follow up scan Thurs and everything was were it should be...Gigondas, just as you said they advised the extra week and growth made things much clearer.

May actually be able to relax and enjoy this pg now Smile
