Seventeen weeks bleed and pain

This is my fourth peg. I had a termination four and half years ago, then my son who is nearly three, I had a mc in July and now I am seventeen weeks with this preg.
Last sat xmas eve I had pain in abdo, some general and some by ovary and then on tues I had a gush of blood. I went to hospital and cervix looked fine. They told me if I was miscarrying again I would have to go into labour, very bleak picture. Then on we'd scan showed no source for bleed. I had had another one in the night gut then just grown. Pain continued and they kept me another night then discharge Thursday.
I have been told to wait and see but I feel so in the dark. Pain on and off, worse in morning, could be gut I suppose except it did come before bleed and I had one at ten weeks the same.
I am having constant palpitations too which may be stress. I just feel like I am living on a knife edge and can't understand how the drs cld be so non committal. What could this pain be?
I don't know whether to go into work or if I should be lying in bed! They have only said don't lift things , joke my son is fifteen kg plus, and don't get knocked on tummy.
They gave no direction on other aspects of life so not sure where to draw a line. I know I can't prevent someone going wrong but when I went in they asked had I had sex or been knocked which I had not so should I avoid this too? Should I have hope or prepare for worst? Baby moving, just brown spotting, pain abating. Any advice much appreciated.

I don't know, but try to relax and don't strain yourself lifting heavy things, pushing buggies etc too much

Hi

I am 17 weeks too, I had a similar experience earlier at 9 weeks, terrible paint that was like labour and some spotting. They couldn't tell me what it was and never found a reason, so I identify with where you are at. Hopefully it is just one of those things and will pass... thinking of you.
