Im fed up, im expecting my 2nd and very uncomfortable. I've suffered with high blood pressure so im back an forth to the hospital. Midwife has suggested that pump my breast to bring on labour. They have assured me that it will not mess up my supply. Any thoughts x x

I'm in the same boat 38 +6 now, thankfully I'm booked in for an elective section on Tues, but it doesn't stop me being incredibly uncomfortable all of the time.
I've spent the last couple of weeks searching the internet for ways to bring on labour ad this seems to be a popular one, along with fresh pineapple and raspberry leaf tea.
I don't think there is any evidence it will mess up your supply.
I don't think there's any fool proof way of bringing on labour, but hang on in there, they will be worth it.

It won't mess your supply up, so that is correct. The birth itself is what signals to your body to commence milk production rather than colostrum production.

The clinical guidelines on induction of labour from July 2008 say that more evidence is needed to see if breast stimulation is an effective form of induction.

There's nothing in the guidance to say it shouldn't be done to try and bring on labour, but from threads I've seen in the past it, along with pretty much EVERY other natural induction method, is a complete waste of time. If these natural methods really worked, then we'd be having a much more enjoyable induction experience Grin rather than arsing about on wards having pessaries, ARM and syntocinon drips Wink

If you do try it, it's got to be for about an hour or so, and at least daily IIRC.
