Hi

Just a quick question about my bump i'm 28 weeks pregnant and had a good pregnancy so far apart from my morning sickness has not went away i've been told by several people lately that my bump is quiet low and that I should be alot higher. This is my first pregnancy and im just wondering is this something to worry about or is everyone different.

Thanks

PS Happy new year to you all x

My bump was sky high when my waters went so I think everyone is different. Depends on how long your body is - mine is short so I always look high but if I had a long body I might carry 'lower'.

Nothing to wory about IMHO

Thanks London :) im only 5ft4 lol and a bit on the heavier side although not put on alot of weight during pregnancy so maybe people just confusing the fat as bump hahah

I'm 33 weeks with DD1 and my bump is quite low too, I don't think it's anything to worry about. Though I was carrying quite high until a couple of weeks ago so I don't know if it's because she's dropped? Seems a bit early for that though. I wouldn't worry about it, everyone seems to carry differently :)

When you say several people, are any of them medical professionals? I've had a shit ton of comments from everyone, except MW's, Dr's ect who feel they can tell me what's right or wrong with my pregnancy just by looking at me.

I'd smile and nod and say no it's all fine, ask your MW if you have any concerns but don't let peoples opinions worry you. I've been told several times that I will need a CS as I'm petite, they may be right but not necessarily because I'm small, my GP, MW & Consultant have all said that it's a ridiculous suggestion and I shouldn't listen to people who aren't medically trained or experienced.

Everyone is built differently, everyone probably carries differently. Don't let people worry you.

Happy New Year!

Bumps are v different IMO - babies in different positions coupled with different shaped mums-to-be. Please don't worry!

BadRoly · 31/12/2011 21:50

I would ignore them if I was you - all my bumps have been different shapes depending on my starting weight and how the baby is lying.

Some people seem to just fall into talking absolute twaddle when they are met with a pregnant woman...

naturalbaby · 31/12/2011 21:51

do you know what you're having? i love the old wives tales that tell you what you're having according to bump shape but not sure about the high/low thing!

annekins · 31/12/2011 22:13

I wouldn't give it a second thought if i were you. I had a nice neat bump that was fairy high but because I had a little (ahem!) belly before I was pg, I have tummy fat under my bump iyswim, which made it look lower than it was.

I say had, as I'm now 40+1 and bump has dropped a fair bit in the last couple of days so anytime now I'm hoping!

Happy New Year to you too x

Dont worry about it. Being pregnant or having a newborn means that people seem to have to make silly comments. If this is this first you have had be prepared for many more comments. Isn't you bump big/small/low/high/out in front/all around etc etc. Often all in the same day from different people.

Relax and ignore every but you instinct and health professionals. :-)

Hi,

People comment that my bump is quite high up with DS1 (DC1) my MW advised that the position of my bump is to do with the length of my torso and the fact I am all up front. Also I find that the bump is much lower in the morning almost in my pelvis.

People also like to comment on the size of your bump at 23 weeks people keep telling me I look big. LOL baby is going to be a big one then. xx
