OK....i think that I have been thinking about this too much Confused !

But I only just found out that I am not supposed to have hot baths etc.......I practically live in the bath (hence the frog nick name!) and they are always quite warm. I have also had the occasional wheat bag snuggle thing on the sofa....on my tummy.....

OMG! Do you think I could have actually damaged the baby??? I am 14+3

Any advice!

You can talk to your midwife if worried, but I'm prety sure that the risks of hot baths are immediate problems (raised risk of fainting, immediate slightly raised risk of MC), so if you feel fine, don't worry about it (although poss keep things a bit cooler for now on).

Remember people have babies in very hot countries!

From the "research" I did in my last pregnancy, what I worked out was that the risk of a hot bath was that it raised your body temperature which could be bad for the baby (as it can be, for example, when you exercise) and that the risk of a wheat bag/hot water bottle etc was that it draws blood to the area where the heat is and that that can be bad for the baby by drawing blood away from it. So, there are two different "problems".

I ended up using a hot water bottle a lot in my last pregnancy as I lived in a freezing Victorian converted flat and DD was fine. I also continued to have warm (but not hot hot) baths. This time, I haven't used the hot water bottle as much but that is because we now live in a 70s double glazed monstrosity which is much warmer rather than because I was concerned about the baby. I still have warm baths. I should say I'm generally quite laid back though.

At 8 weeks I fell asleep all night with a really hot hot water bottle clutched to my tummy. Am now 17 weeks and fingers crossed so far so good, but I still worry about it. I don't think you ever stop worrying about something in pregnancy. I'm sure you'll be fine Smile
