I was just wondering if your due date is worked out the same when expecting twins, they haven't given me a date and my early scan 2 weeks ago put me at about 6 weeks and will be given edd at 12 week scan. I have heard that term for twins is around 38 weeks, so how is ur due date calculated??? Just wondering for mat pay etc???

Tia :)

Your due date is calculated the same way as for a singleton, even though twins are usually early.

I was recommended not to plan to start my mat leave after 32 weeks though, as you are apparently the same size by then as a full term single pregnancy and v tired!

Good luck!

Due date is still the same in terms of maternity leave etc. A lot of twins come early though so plan to go on maternity leave any time after 30 weeks depending on how stressful your job is, how much you need to be on your feet, how you get to work etc. I had my twins three days after starting my maternity leave and was gutted because I'd planned to have a few weeks of lolling around on the sofa eating chocs and watching films!

Due date for mat pay etc is still based the same. Although generally twins are classed as term at 37-38 weeks (depends on hospital policy) I had one of my sets at 33 weeks and the other set at 36 weeks but generally most people will be on mat leave from 32 weeks due to the size and tiredness!

Harry: 37 weeks is term for any pregnancy.
