I'm 38+5 and for the last few days have been itchy and sore around my whole vulva area. Could it be thrush or something else?
Also, do I need to see a GP or will my midwife be able to help? All the GPs at my practice are stuffy old men who I hate going to see for intimate problems.

Depends on the MW, some can prescribe. There's a chance that at 38wks they'd want to rule out "other" infections (with lo-v swabs), so you may need to see a doctor.

You can usually use the 1% cream for thrush ITC, but many pharmacists won't give it out to pregnant women either way. Also not sure of whether the cream's recommended so late in pg.
There's a chance the thrush will be passed in to baby if not treated and you have a VB. Oral thrush isn't that fun for babies...or your nipples!
Start with MW and see what they say. They may be happy to have you do a low-v swab and send it off if they're concerned. They'll re-direct you to GP if they need to.
FX you get some relief soon.
