Had a bleed on Christmas day

I'm 7 weeks, had a bleed on Christmas day. Was bright red, had some cramping on and off since.

Does that mean that's it? Should I cancel my MW appt and assume I'm not pregnant any more?

I also had some blood on christmas day - very small amount but I am still worrying. I am also 7 weeks. The only way to tell is to get a scan but I am not hopeful that will be easy for me over the holidays!

It is possible to bleed and not miscarry and conversely last time I miscarried there was very little blood.

Hoping it isn't a mc for either of us.

Just to give you both some hope I have been bleeding at least once a day for the last 4 weeks! Had an early scan 2 weeks ago and all was ok in the right place and hb seen, however doesn't stop me worrying!!

If the bleeding is heavy go to a&e or a walk
in clinic if you have one, if not ring your gp tomorrow and get referred to the epu. If you have the money you may be able to get a private scan around £60 ish and you maybe able to get one today? not that I've looked into it

Fingers crossed for you both :)

I think you should either call your mw or go to the GP's ad get a referral to your local EPU for an early scan, then at least you'll know whats going on in your body.

MW booking in appt is tomorrow - should I go and talk to her about it? Or phone GP in morning and see what they say??

Probably call the gp as tbh the midwife doesn't do anything other than your booking appointment, I went for mine last week and she advised anything that happens before 15 weeks contact the gp. Give them a call first thing, have things settled down???

namechangerbat · 27/12/2011 08:44

Yes just bled red blood for about an hour. Felt very light headed and crap since though.

Have you got a walk in clinic nearby??? Maybe go and see someone if your a&e has a maternity unit on same grounds go there as they may refer you over. Try not to worry, easier said than done. My mw and the ladies at epu said it's common to have implantation bleeding at 7 weeks.

Fingers crossed for you :(

I had this at 6 weeks and made an appt at EPU myself and went a couple of days later..happened on a Friday night - typical! But it was all fine and am now 23 weeks pregnant and had another bleed at 20 weeks and still all fine. However, I had a mc a few years ago so I know it can happen. If it gets worse go to A and E or call an ambulance - I had to do that for my mc in the end...good luck

Namechanger - good it has stopped for you. In the end I booked a private scan for tomorrow morning - couldn't face the epu on the 1st day open after the holidays.

goingmadtrying · 27/12/2011 19:42

Fingers crossed for you tomorrow x

TheAvocadoOfWisdom · 27/12/2011 19:49

OP: so did I, but it was on Christmas Eve. And in 2007. DS2 is now safely asleep upstairs. Fingers crossed you are okay too.

Am so relieved to hear your stories, so comforting to know we're not alone in this madness! Lig, good luck with your scan tmw...keep us posted if you can :) x

How much was it?

I was bleeding and just walked in to EPU on a Saturday and explained and they did a scan for me there and then. I live in London and the hospital I went to is an extremely busy one. So i would suggest that you just do the same.

LIG1979 · 28/12/2011 14:49

Hello,
The scan was fine - I am now 7 weeks 4 days (gained a day Grin) and it is bigger than last time and with a good heartbeat. Feel I can relax (at least for a few days).

Namechanger - hope you are doing ok? It was £99 in South West London. Not cheap but they did a much more thorough scan than the one I had at 6.2 in the NHS and they gave me lots of pictures. Here is the website.... www.ultrasound-direct.com/babybond-booking/appointments/book1.aspx?er=bb1
It was good I could book an appointment online yesterday and get seen 1st thing today. If I had the money, I would be tempted to go there every day just to see how the little blob is getting on...
