The rib pain may be indigestion.i know it sounds funny but it can happen. You can try things to displace gas such as drinking hot drinks or taking deflatine or rennie or just rubbing the area. I wouldn't use a heat pad on or near your abdomen. I only used one in late pregnancy for lower bvk pain never on the tummy though. Hope it eases for you.

Hi popcorn I don't know about the heat pads but I am also 31 weeks pregnant and suffering rib pain, only on the right hand side, and the only thing that gives me any relief is stretching my arms up, the pain comes back after I've fiished but its a bit of temporary relief

My doctor said to avoid all the hot things, including pads and baths.

Rib pain is just temporary and will go away.

My doctor recommended warm baths Sandra! Mad the way we are given such different advice. Rib pain does go....its just blummin sore at the time!

I did my neck in when I was 9 weeks pregnant and would usually use a heat pad for it but the pharmacist told me it wasn't recommended as the heat pad draws blood to the heated area meaning there is less flowing around you normally & so to the baby.
Pam with my first pregnancy, I had pain under my right rib and it turned out DD had shoved a foot under there. Stretching helped as it gave her a bit of room but I didn't get any real relief until she dropped around 38 weeks. It was such a good feeling! I'm hoping this one chooses a different position!
