decreased movements at 22+3

Ok so I'm 22+3 and I have noticed that my baby has stopped moving as much as he used to. He was a really lively baby that moved constantly now I'm lucky if I feel him once a day. Is that normal? He's my 2nd but can't remember much from DS1. I have also had increased vaginal discharge,(discharge been like it for a while and is quite watery, scan last week said alls fine)I also been having terrible headaches and back pain.

I'd give your midwife a call, just for a chat. I think some reassurance wouldn't go a miss. You can't go through xmas with this worry pet

Thankyou, my midwifes phone is switched off. Been a couple of days now, I miss him kicking me like he used to. I no I'm only 22 weeks but he was so lively even my partner could feel him kick and moving and could see my belly jumping up and down , he had a pattern and its stopped.I've tried everything that made him kick last time and he still hasn't. I do feel wiggles every now and again tho. But really not often

Is there an antenatal dept at the hospital you could pop along to? I;m sure they wouldn't mind giving you some reassurance?

It could be something as simple as it's kicking into your back so you dont feel it as much. But any concerns about movement go get checked out. If your mw aint picking up their phone ring the maternity or even labour ward and ask them to put you through to the right place. You aren't wasting anyone's time

Thankyou, I do have an appointment on thursday, so maybe shud I wait till then? U no with it being christmas. I do still feel movements just not as regular, like I can feel him kicking very low down right now, they just arnt like they where the other day, so maybe he's moved somewhere awkward, like you said..kicking into me

Christmas or not there will still be staff in. Honestly they won't mind you turning up or ringing in. That's what we pay our taxes for and that's what the mw are employed for. At least it will put ur mind at rest. You don't want to be worrying over Xmas

If you have any concerns, please do go and get checked out. They won't mind, it's what they're there for. When I went in with concerns in my last pregnancy, the mws all said they'd rather monitor the same person ten times than have someone not come in with what turned out to be a problem.

Please call local hospital. Decreased movements can be just because babies moved, BUT they can be a serious warning sign. I hated going in with dds and always felt that I was causing a fuss, but have come to realise I would rather that than miss something serious and blame myself for it later.

Go to the hospital and get your baby checked. Any change in the movement pattern should be investigated. Don't wait, just go. And Merry Christmas x

Yup, I rang my "local" hospital for reassurance (was expecting hte 1st time hysterical Mum, anterior placenta talk), at 22wks because I'd not felt anything proper for a while and was told to come in immediatly.
LO was fine, but please get it checked out. The stress alone isn't worth it. You should have emergency numbers somewhere on your notes (other than local MW), if not, look up your local hospital on internet or ring NHS direct - they shoudl be able to tell you.

You need to go and be checked today.

And mention the headaches, and any other changes/symptoms whilst you're there.

I had the same problem I posted a week or two ago so would have been about the same as you, baby was just lurking and kicking at my back, typically as soon as I went for monitoring little sod came out to play but really the midwife could not have been nicer or more reassuring and after five days of nothing - same thing movement pattern was established, it was really reassuring

Im another with an anterior placenta - midwife has told me that I probably wont feel regular movement until Im past 26 weeks but that I am welcome to go for monitoring at any time for reassurance because the stress just isnt worth it - I hope that you have given the midwife a call much better than feeling miserable and uncertain
