If you got more spots when pregnant, did you have a boy or girl?

My sister is pregnant with her second child (she has one DS) and has been getting lots of spots on her face. She has heard that spots in pregnancy are linked with having a girl (apparently a study in France said you were 90% more likely to have a girl if you suffered spots during pregnancy) so I thought I would do a poll on here to see if there is any truth to this.

If you suffered bad skin while pregnant did you have a boy or a girl?Smile

I was spotty with both, had more dry skin with DD and had to change all my lotions and potions as my skin and hair changed drastically. Currently pg with DS I have had more chin spots but not had to replace all my shampoo.etc like I did last time!

melliebobs · 23/12/2011 12:24

I had 1-2 spots in the very very early stages that cleared up in a wk or so.

I'm having a girl

Cankulzof · 23/12/2011 12:37

two completely different pregnancies. two boys.

Pinkchampagne · 23/12/2011 12:40

Hmm, looking at this it seems it is not such a great indicator of baby's sex. She keeps swaying from thinking one way to the other based on all the old wives tales atm!

First two pregnancies no spots but bad insomnia and heartburn and had two boys.

This time spotty and waaaaaay more hormonal (will cry at anything) and having a girl.

Before I knew I was having a girl I suspected as much because of the hormones/spots, just felt very different from how I was with the boys.

EssentialFattyAcid · 23/12/2011 14:02

I was spotty for the first time in my life and had a girl

Pinkchampagne · 23/12/2011 17:46

My sister had heartburn at the beginning of this pregnancy too, but no sickness at all. This made her think boy.
She is carrying high & is spotty, which points towards girl, and also had quite a bit of early bleeding which she didn't have with her DS, but the heartbeat is 135 which made her think boy again! Guess she will just have to wait for the scan & hope they can see what it is. She wasn't going to find out at first but is now driving herself mad trying to guess!

Very spotty - boy

Very spotty again - don't know yet!

Flisspaps · 23/12/2011 20:08

Last pregnancy - glowed, skin was lovely, had a girl.

This time - bloody awful skin. No idea what I'm having but hope my spots bugger off post-birth! Hmm

Flisspaps · 23/12/2011 20:09

Oh, and terrible sickness and heartburn with both. DD didn't have much hair either, so heartburn wasn't down to that as some might think!

jellybeans · 23/12/2011 20:10

I have had 7 DC, with all 4 girls I had spots, with my single boy and twin boys my skin was glowing-no spots at all!

jellybeans · 23/12/2011 20:10

Meant too add, was sick with all girls and not at all with my boys-even the twins!

I was a lot less spotty and had a girl.

Ains16 · 23/12/2011 20:58

Love this, sooo interesting :-) Have 2 DS and had no skin issues at all and terrible heartburn all the way through with never a day of morning sickness. Pregnant with 1st DD :-)) and skin is a riot!! have no heartburn.....so far and the sicky feeling has only just started easing at 23 wks. Bump shape is exact same as with each of them though.

Pinkchampagne · 23/12/2011 21:18

Just shows you can never tell. Based on old wives tales, my sister has a right mix of boy and girl symptoms! Well, it's going to be one or the other!!Grin

I have loads of spots and continuing annoying MS at just shy of 18wks - gthis would seem to point towards girl. But on another thread about weird side effect, I said how my stomach seems to have gotten really hairy and someone asked if I was having a boy.

I'm planning on finding out when Shrimp pops out (5months-ish to go), unless it's a he and does the same trick that DP's 2nd DS apparently did in his 20wk scan.

MiauMau · 24/12/2011 10:17

sounds like a very random theory. My face is very spotty to add to my lovely rosacea :( and I'm having a boy, my sister on the other hand not a spot in sight and had a girl.

feekerry · 24/12/2011 10:21

My skin is the worst its ever been, face back and chest. . And i'm having a girl. Both my friends had amazing skin in both their pregnancies and they had boys.

Pinkchampagne · 24/12/2011 10:21

Well judging by this thread alone, I think we can say the theory that 90% of spotty pregnancies results in girls is total rubbish!!

What is a PUPPS rash?

OP posts:
Haziedoll · 24/12/2011 10:49

I had loads of spots, I don't normally get any. I had boys both times.

Crosshair · 24/12/2011 12:24

I have it in the stretch marks on my abdomen, so itchy!

Pinkchampagne · 24/12/2011 13:17

Ooh, never heard of that before.
