Hello, I am 35 weeks today and for the past 3days I get the sudden need to have a bowel motion. Not diarrohea but very near enough. I am not eating a great deal as have horrible heart burn and feeling nauseous and generally shattered. Is this need to go to the toilet a sign that labor could be nearing or just normal towards end of pregnancy? Feeling slightly anxious about it. Getting tired of being pregnant but equally would like to hang on longer.

It could be sign of labour but not if few days. It might be hormone shift (i posted about feeling sick again As also 35 weeks). I remember having similar issues in first trimester and it cleared up.

It's quite normal. I think it is just things changing in your body, hormones etc.

But are you getting enough fibre? Constipation is common in pregnancy and that can cause urgent loose poops.

I've heard it's normal - I've had it recently too (39 weeks). Makes me glad I am mostly at home now!

Thanks all for your replies. Roll on the next 5 weeks. Thought once I started mat leave I would have time to catch up on rest, doing nice day trips with my 3year old, meeting friends for coffee and so on but seem to have picked up one thing after another! Forgot how exhausting 3rd trimester is. Good luck all
