Iam 20+6 with dc 4 and since the very beginning i have had a lot of cramps/pain/twinges.

Ive had loads of scans and they can never see anything wrong but they have seen braxton hicks contractions on scans since 16 weeks.I do get tightenings most days but mostly its a horrible crampy pain bothering me on left side of my uterus, it has been quite sharp and painful the last couple of days.

I saw mw this morning and she said babys heartbeat fine, bp and urine fine and that it might just be stretching pain as ive had 3 caesareans.I have also been on iron tablets and constipated so i dont know if that could be contributing to the pain?

Has anybody else had anything like this ? Iam terrified something is going to go wrong as i just dont feel right but cant put my finger on what is wrong, i just feel like there must be a reason for the pain and as it gets quite bad im worrying it could be that something horrible might happen.

Every time i have been seen at hosp or by mw they seem unconcerned i dont know whether i just need to trust them and relax or to trust my instinct that something just isnt quite right ?

I don't honestly know but I didn't want you to go unanswered. My theory is that if your gut feeling is telling you something isn't right then you need to pursue that further and see your midwife. Explain absolutely everything and describe the pain and show where it is etc. A lot of the times things can 't be seen on scans and health workers are all to keen to say things are OK as long as baby has a heartbeat. If you feel unwell or not right then I would not take no for an answer.

I am not saying there is something wrong by the way. A lot of people find different stages of pregnancy uncomfortable and as you know each baby and each pregnancy will be different. I assume if the baby is growing and being monitored then it's nothing too serious but I would want to know more if I were you. Sorry I can't help much. Good luck x

I wanted to say I completely understand as am having the same similar issue. At 20 weeks they saw contractions on scan and said it was normal and every day I am getting tighenings on the side of bump. I asked the MW yesterday and told likely to be Braxton Hicks which is normal apparently. I through this whole pregnancy ,have had just a bad feeling but not sure why Sad

This is DC2 and like you urine, bp and scans are fine. I have no answer but wanted to post and let you know I understand. Hoping some one comes along with advice too soon...

thanks secretcodes and essexmumma, i cant explain my feeling that something is wrong-might have a lot to do with the fact my previous pgs were all identical but this time is so different.

I had placenta accreta with dc2 and this time my placenta is anterior again and over previous scars but the consultant said it wouldnt cause the symptoms i have had.It is hard having pain and discomfort and no explanation for it.I almost feel like the gp and mw must think iam going mad as despite all their reassurance i keep going back.

Spent most of the afternoon on the sofa feeling horrible, lots of tightenings and crampy period type pains, bit better now but the worry is all consuming.

hope you feel better soon too essexmumma

Have they given you anything for the constipation? It can cause extreem pain in pregnancy. As can UTIs (but your urine was fine, so probably not this). Having had a UTI that led to codeine induced constipation and contractions I can tell you it's not something to put aside at all. I have a previous small op. scar and all of those things together made it exceedingly painful (pethidine and entonox did nowt). Go back, describe the symptoms and if nothing else, get them to give you lactulose or similar to help with the bowels. This might just free everything up a bit and help with the pain.
