awful cold, 25 weeks. Help!

I've had a chesty cough for around 6 weeks been to the doctor and he says it will pass. Since last night I've been all bunged up not able to breathe etc or sleep! Can anyone give me some advise please im begging! I think im even willing to pay lol x

I can totally sympathise with you. I'm 25 weeks pregnant and for the past 8 weeks I've had every illness going - 2 bouts of sickness and what feels like a permanent cold. I've been awake most nights coughing so last week I went to my gp just to check I don't have a chest infection. I don't and was told that if I started to cough up any nasty phlegm to go back (nice) I have now started to feel better. it's rubbish because you can't take anything. If you're worried go to docs as they'll always fit you in and it does give peace of mind. I would never normally go to the docs with a cold but being ill when you're pregnant is a worry. Would hot honey and lemon help at all? If you think you have a chest infection (are you coughing up green goo?) your gp can give you antibiotics - there are some which are okay in pregnancy... Otherwise my best advice would be to rest ( if that's poss) and stay warm, let your body heal itself. You'll get better quicker if you take it easy - easier said than done if you've got a family or lots of Christmas running about to do.

I had a bad cold for 3 weeks - at 2 weeks doc wouldnt give me anything but on monday a diff doc gave me antibiotics and I am better in just 2 days! I am sooo relieved. Missed so much work. had to farm out my 3 yr old to family. maybe go back and see if they will give you something....
