With dd1 by 12 weeks jeans didn't fit and my tummy was bloated looking. By five months I had an obvious bump.

Just wondered if different with second / third pgs. Am pg with baby no 2 ( only seven and a bit weeks) but trying to hide it from work for as long as possible.

Any tips on concealing?

Ds2 was hidden for a bit longer than his brother due too the less than successful weightloss programme after ds1 :( but was obvious by about the 5 month mark (about a month later).

I'd suggest being wary of a wholesale change in wardrobe (always suspicious) but what ever you do buy go for empire waistlines. Loose sweaters/cardigans or jackets over existing clothes that drop to the hip will help hide a thickening waste.

The harder thig to hide can be the change in behaviours - eg diet, any alcohol consumption if you are lucky enough to have a social life at work, or dealing with morning sickness if that is a problem.

I think empire lines make you look pregnant even when you arent (they do me anyway but then my tummy is usually flattish) My advice would be to stay in your normal clothes for as long as possible and just wear slightly looser tops/jumpers and a bump band if needed. Cardies are also good for disguising as they cut tummy in half.

I showed well past 20 weeks with 2nd, much the same as first really!

With my DD I barely looked pregnant, was still sleeping on my front at 42wks. She was just small and tucked in.

With this pregnancy, I'm now 22wks and still in my own clothes, it being my second hasnt made much difference. I guess I just dont 'do' bumps. :(

I agree with the tips about empire line tops, knitted dresses etc, with larger sized leggings/tights.

I am TTC , I look six months gone already . Do I win?

sleeplessinderbyshire · 18/12/2011 11:21

I look like a whale at 10+ weeks now. Needed maternity trousers from 14 weeks last time but didn't look preganant to stangers til about 18 weeks. This time I have piled on the weight as if I don't snack I puke constantly. Can't wear trousers any more but oddly don't look too bad in dresses. Have a long cardigan that I can tie at the front which hides the entire belly area well

Newtothisstuff · 18/12/2011 11:42

I'm 18 weeks and have just started a new Job so am trying to hide it as much as possible !! I'm wearing normal work trousers and shirts but I just went to Primark and bought a bigger size so it doesn't look as tight !! As everyone else has said too empire line tops ! Suppose we are lucky it's winter and it's cold ! Layer the big thick jumpers !!!! Good luck Grin

I am pregnant with first baby now 13 weeks and starting to show. It's a definite bump rather than fat! I was a size 10 before luckily I lost some weight a while ago and kept all my bigger clothes so have been using those to keep me going but just started buying some maternity clothes.

SantaAteAllTheBiscuits · 18/12/2011 12:24

with dd I was barely showing at 7 months (easily hidden) and by 8 I was mammoth.

with ds2 I was hiding it at 5 months but did have a reasonable bump.

with ds2 people started to ask me at 20 weeks but only if i was wearing a tight top

KikiRC · 18/12/2011 13:49

I'm 26+3 with a quite small bump, I find the most flattering dresses are ones that I wouldn't have expected to look nice- the ones with a high waist (sort of halfway between bust and belly button) which only obviously work until your bump gets that high...

OTTMummA · 18/12/2011 14:14

DC1 looked bloated from 18 weeks, but didn't show properly until about 28 weeks, baby was tucked in and i am tall, so didn't have a huge bump at all, not even at the end.
Am 9 weeks on wednesday with DC2 and am already bloated :S

Alligatorpie · 19/12/2011 02:47

I look huge now at 14 weeks, I have been wearing mat jeans since about 10 and a half weeks.

melliebobs · 19/12/2011 09:24

31 weeks and still waiting Sad just look a bit bloated Sad

TreesDogsBooks · 19/12/2011 09:44

I started showing before 12 week scan and this is my first! I had lost a fair bit of weight for my wedding and then got so sick when I fell pregnant the healthy eating went out the window. I have found it quite hard to deal with all the twins comments, being called fatty and the general rudeness of people which has astounded me! Thank goodness I have just 2 weeks leftSmile

PrincessSugarPlum · 19/12/2011 10:17

I'm 12 weeks and my normal budda belly is definitely present, despite losing weight elsewhere. So there is a bump, but tbh it just looks like a fat belly!

Angel786 · 19/12/2011 14:29

Kellog wins Grin lol! I bet you don't really!

Thanks all - wow, sleeping on tummy at 42 weeks! Lucky thing. I think last time around it was about 14/15 weeks I couldn't sleep on my front anymore.

So far 8 weeks and ocassionally look bloated (but think it's food rather than baby)...

Will see how long I can hide it for!

We are preganant with DS1 and I have been showing since week 12. We are now 21 weeks and DS is huge, although I am only a size 10 (fingers crossed will stay on the small side) xx

LoveInASnowyClimate · 19/12/2011 17:41

Pregnant with DC1 and showed from eight weeks. By ten weeks, and before I'd announced it, people were patting the bump and congratulating me Blush. I was v slim before, though. On the plus side, I'm now 27+4 and have a nice neat bump measuring exactly right so being huge early on doesn't necessarily mean huge all the way through.

ScrummyYummyMummy · 19/12/2011 19:28

With DD1 I was showing around 16 weeks, but with DC2 by the end of the day (when I seem bigger) I'm clearly showing at 12 weeks. Cardis that are long or blouse style tops that aren't tight seem to cover it up well.

Angel786 · 21/12/2011 19:27

Sooo at 8 weeks there's def a bump but looks more bloated than baby. Wore a baggy top yest which def didn't do me any favours, am sure tat plus no drinking tipped some friends off! May try to just keep a pashmina on to hide too?
