Hi ladies, I'm on my second pregnancy, 27 weeks now and have developed shockingly bad varicose veins all up my left leg. Very large and hideous! I have read online that these don't necessarily go after the pregnancy is over, is this right in your experience?

Also, I seem to have a sack of "fluid" in my left labia, according to DH it doesn't look like another varicose vein (although there are some in my crotch), any ideas what this could be and if it's normal?

Can't get a docs appointment until after Christmas but seeing the midwife next Fri. It's driving me mad though!

Oh the joys of pregnancy!!!

Hi,

I got varicose veins in my crotch and vulva at 16 weeks (i'm on second pg but twins). Asked at my 20 week consultant appointment- they said they will 'hopefully' all go after the birth. i didn't think they were vulval til the doctor asked ad I said oh no, just in my criotch, and dh said err, actually vulval too Blush (I'd asked him to v briefly look, he's a GP)

I panicked at the 'hopefully' they'll go, and asked my friend who had really bad vulval varices with her second pg, and she said hers were miles better after about a day after the birth, her DS2 is 7 months now and she says no sign they were ever there.

So no guarantee they'll go, but hopefully!!! And probably I was led to believe (by the consultant)

Hope that helps

Thanks dream, hoping to see the doc this week as it's getting v uncomfortable. I REALLY hope it disappears once the pregnancy is over. DH doesn't think the lumps in my labia are veins though as they're not blue but the ones in crotch definitely are. The lumps do feel like fluid though. Do you know if the veins affect labour and delivery at all?

Didn't affect my friend, normal delivery, miles better than her first. I'm likely to have a section (previous third degree tear, one breech twin and these veins) but have been told if I'm desperate for VB can try.
