Had a A/F 22nd October which was normal flow, 7 days long, in November just before A/F was due i felt as if i could be pg i did a test 4 days before i was due and it was negative.

A/F arrived on Nov 20th but it wasn't quite normal was darker and lighter and i had no period pain.

On Dec 6th i had light red spotting and my boobs were really hurting.
A/F was due 18th dec did a pg test Monday (12th) got a positive [happy] it was a very cheap test so was dubious.

Went to dr's who confirmed it and said i was probably 4 weeks just. I got 2 clearblue indicators and did one Mon which read 3+ making me 5+ weeks pg. I've just done anothe one and got the same result!

Is the dr right am i four weeks or 7+6. I have fatigue, extreme tiredness, sore boobs.

Is it important to know now. It is to me as i M/C in July an 6+6 so if i'm past that think i would relax a bit.

Should i go bk to dr? Sorry its long winded would be grateful of advice.

Hi, don't know to much about dates tbh but my friend had some confusion about her dates, she thought she was 8 weeks doc said 4 turned out she was 8 and didn't get her scan until 17 weeks because of the confusion. I'd go back to docs say your sure your further along and if they still say 4 weeks maybe try and get a private scan if you really want to know, i know theres nothing worse than the worry after a MC. good luck x

If your doctor says 4 weeks pregnant, in reality you conceived two weeks ago (they just count back to the date of your last period as it gives a concrete date to work from). The clearblue test works on date of conception (not dating back to first period) so if it's saying 3+ it means it thinks you conceived about 3 weeks ago, so are give or take five weeks pregnant according to the way the GP and midwife will date you.

Those clearblue tests aren't 100% accurate (read the information sheet) so it's not going to give you an exact date, as different women have different hormone levels at various stages of PG (why 'normal' ranges for HCG are so massive). TBH they give women a lot of heartache and confusion (I'd love to have them banned - it's even worse if it tells you you are LESS pregnant than you know you are, causing unnecessary worry) so I wouldn't set too much store from it.

Work from the date of your last period and count weeks from then, which would be safest. Although if it started on 20th Nov (sounds like a pretty normal period as heavier than spotting and when you expected it?) it would make you less than four weeks (?)

I know exactly what you mean about wanting to pass that milestone. I'm not sure what else the GP could do if you call him - they can't usually date with a scan until at least six weeks, and even then it can be a bit out while the baby is so small (much more accurate at 12+ weeks)

Good luck - HTH

dating scan will clear it all up for you at 12 weeks.

Thankyou all. Doesn't really matter now as started bleeding today and went to a & e who said its 50/50 so have an app. tomorrow at epau for scan. But not hopeful. Don't think i can do this again. Sad
