Nervous nellie--week 6 advice please

Hi all. I am 40, have a 4 year old and suffered a missed miscarriage 3 months ago. I am now 6 weeks pregnant and had my first scan today. Sack measured correctly and the doc said she could see "something in there" but no heartbeat yet. I also have a very tilted uterus. Should there be a heartbeat at this stage? The doc also offered to scan again next week or wait until 2 Jan, any advice on which I should do? I have all day morning sickness, X-rated boob size and am beyond exhausted.

I am just a nervous wreck. The last MC threw me to the point I had a complete melt down and was diagnosed with burn out. I really need this to happen this time...

It all sounds like everythings getting off to a good start. I believe its normal not to have hb at such an early stage.

Even with the uterus in the standard position, it is not uncommon not to see the hb at 6 weeks yet. All it takes is to be a day or two behind your dates. With a retroverted uterus, scanning is more difficult so that could easily explain it. i would go for the next week scan option, waiting till 2nd Jan would be a long time in my opinion. Good luck with it, fingers crossed for a healthy bean in there!

I no how you are feeling I had m/c and now I'm pregnant again I've had a scan and they say I'm 6weeks but also the midwife said that can change as its way 2 early 2 do dating. So I would go back for another scan. Docs said to me having morning sickness is a very good sign. When I went for my scan they couldn't see yolk sac but just managed 2 detect heartbeat fingers crossed when you have your other scan it will be there. You may not be as far as they think. X

I had a scan at about 6 and a half weeks and there was no heartbeat, they rescanned me a day under 8 weeks and there was a strong one. Now 13 weeks and all going well. You are still really early to see it, I would go for the scan next week.
