Hiya feel a little silly posting this but Iv never had heartburn before so don't know if this is what I'm experiencing. I'm 20 + 4 weeks with my first and for the last few days feel like Iv swallowed a bottle of fizzy acid - not that I know what that's like lol. My stomach and chest has a burning feeling which comes up into my throat every time I hiccup, also feel like my chest is slightly tightened and breathing abit restricted - not Majorly.
Iv heard heartburn is common in pregnancy, are these the symptoms of it, or could it be something else?

I always assumed heartburn had something to do with the heart and mine feels fine!

That sounds like heartburn to me. I get the same thing. Do be careful though as the tight chest feeling isn't something I experience with heartburn. Assume all is going well and blood pressure is normal?

Sounds like heartburn, though I've never had it...just head reports of it.

Indigestion can feel like you have something wedged in your throat (that's what it does for me anyway).
Either way, get thee to the doctors and they can check it out and give you a loverly big bottle of gaviscon to hug at night because you love it so much help!

Yeah everything else is fine, iv had a really easy pregnancy so far. I work in a health clinic and get to check my blood pressure everyday it's good. Chest is only a bit tight

Lol thanks oeisha, my partners in the army so something to cuddle up to sounds perfect & I'm sure gavason will be a great replacement Wink so I'm guessings that's perfectly safe to take when pregnant?

I take rennies and they are perfectly safe. It is an evil nasty feeling, the burning in the throat... Feel like running away from it! Can't wait for some kind of normality. Come on February! :)

Oeisha · 15/12/2011 11:33

Yup. Apparently it's safe, but pharmacists won't "give" it to you. You can just buy it off the shelf however. BUT with the MatEx card it's free...hense the trip to the doctors also...ruel out anything else wiht the shortness of breath and get a free script.
I also have Rennies chewables for on the go! Not that I'm dong very much "going" at the moment.

Sounds like heartburn to me. I had never experienced heartburn before pregnancy and with DD1 I was in absolute agony one night feeling like my throat was on fire/had drunk a bottle of acid. Now pregnant with DC2 and not looking forward to that again.

Does sound like it. But maybe something in particular is setting you off with it? I've figured out mines chocolate!! Awful :( although I can eat white chocolate and be fine.if its nothing in particular then hug that gaviscon like its your life! I had it terribly with DS1.couldn't even lay down without acid flowing into my throat.
