Wow, it really is painful isn't it!

I've just started with sciatica (22 weeks) and trying my best to keep mobile, avoid painkillers, and generally grin and bear it but some days it's chronic!

Any tried and tested rememdies out there? I've heard accupuncture can work, and hot and cold compression packs? Should I restart my swimming regime?! Oooh, anything!

Hey Bread
I developed sciatica after having my first child (over 15 years ago). Am now 19 +2 and an can feel it starting back up again. I got physio for it the first time around, which I think did help. 'm going to mention to my MW at next appointment in early January. Might be worthwhile asking for a referral to physio too?

Or a chiropractoer or Osteopath with an interest in pregnancy? Don't know how affordable these are, mind you! Also found this:

Lots of advice and suggestions. I'm also planning to start swimming again. I go to the gym a lot (I take it easy) but I could feel the twinges when I was on the cross-trainer last night Sad.

When it's really bad I just have to give it a rest, paracetemol doesn't really work for me, but heat works wonders - hot water bottles, electric blanket on bed, those stick on heat pad things.

Tens machine did BOG all.

Thanks Ladies!

I have a midwife app next week so will mention it and see if she can refer me somewhere!

I did some of my pilates stretches last night for lower back and it seems to have helped a little?!
