33 weeks back pain

Really just wondering if anyone has any advice or has experienced anything similar. I have been having lower back ache for about 4 weeks. Initially it was when I had done too much bending/walking etc. It now seems to be pretty much all the time. Walking is really painful - the pain is one side really low into my bum when I lift up my leg. Stairs and turning over in bed are also pretty painful. I prop myself up with lots of pillows in bed but if I roll onto my back when asleep this makes it ten times worse.

I mentioned it the the MW who was not interested 'urine clear so no UTI theefore I dont really care!' Confused She told me to see the GP if the pain was bad which I did but not much help either. He said pregant women get back ache solution is to rest and maybe try swimming! Resting is fine but I am still working finish next week.

I just feel so helpless it really hurts! Should I go back to GP and push for physio referral? I am sure he would sign me off work but dont particularly want this as its my last few days of work I dont want to leave on a sicknote.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Emy

Had you considered you may have SPD/PGP? There are plenty of good threads on here about that with lots of advice.

Its disappointing that your MW was so uninterested. Would your GP be more helpful?

Hopefully one of the SPD/PGP experts on here will be along shortly to offer you proper advice... Smile

I thought SPD pain was at the front of the pelvis? Will have a bit of a read and maybe see a different MW!

I have just started to get awful lower backache quite suddenly (25wks) after a pretty easy pregnancy....anyway I have found warm baths for half an hour and a hot water bottle are my best friend. Carrying it everywhere even in the car! but its workng and m trying to avoid paracetemol except when its r bad!

Im also seeing MW friday as someone said a support belt may help??

I think the GP will prob offer the same/alternative medication for pain relief. Maybe go if you have tried these and are really struggling :)
