Weight gain at 20 weeks

I am 20 weeks pg with my second baby - what do you think is a normal weight gain at this stage? I have been very well, and barely sick at all in this pregnancy, and I have gained just less than a stone. Is this a lot? I freely admit to having eaten a lot more whilst pregnant than I normally would, but I've been really hungry, and my craving has been for milky hot chocolates, which, needless to say, I have heavily indulged.

I have nothing to compare to, as in my first pregnancy, I had hypermesis, and didn't gain any weight at all until I was full term. Such a relief not to be in that position again, but I have no point of reference!

I had put on about 11lb at 20 weeks, so sounds like the same as you. I'm not sure there is a 'normal' as everyone is different and a lot depends on your weight before pregnancy and how your body reacts, I think.

When I saw the midwife at that point she said the gain was 'perfect' for the stage (my BMI was 22 when I conceived).

I've used this to track my progress - I have no idea how accurate it is, but the ranges seem to be in line with my pregnancy book too;

I am also mad for full fat hot chocolate and have no intention of stopping - enjoy Grin

Congratulations on avoiding the hyperemesis this time! Frankly, if you suffered so much that you didn't put on any weight last time then you deserve to indulge to your heart's content Smile. And just think of all that wonderful calcium in your hot chocolates...

From what I understand, people's weight gain varies massively - both in amount and in when it goes on. It doesn't seem to matter in the end.
