Are irregular periods normal after pregnancy?

DS2 is nearly 3 months, and my periods started at seven weeks (despite ebf, not impressed!). Normally have a pretty regular cycle, but its now been five weeks since I had a that one period, is this normal, or should I be getting worried? Been using protection but never entirely trust it

DH is away, so haven't told him cos I don't want to stress him out, so feeling a bit panicky

I had a very irregular period for a few months after pg. It freaked me out as I now knew I fell pg at a drop of a hat so worried constantly about contraception. Its settled down now but took about 6 months.

But I will always remember my sheer blind moment of panic when I saw blood - I went straight back to pg mode and thought oh god somethings wrong. Then remembered that I had already delivered and it was just the return of periods. Felt like such an idiot too :)

Weirdly, after DD was born, I had two periods then nothing more for about a year (breastfeeding) so while I'm not sure if it's normal it certainly could be possible.

Having said that, if you don't entirely trust your contraception the only way you can put your mind at rest is to do a test. Very impressed that you have managed to resurrect your sex life so soon. I can count on the fingers of...well, on one finger...how often we've done the deed since our second was born! Blush

Casa believe me there haven't been many instances, and it took a lot longer to get going after DS1. Mind you I had loads of stitches first time and only a couple this time.

Think I'm going to get the implant (assuming I'm not pg), more reliable than condoms

springbok I'm the same with getting pregnant easily, just pissed off with myself that I didn't book in for the implant earlier. DH wanted to get the snip but the doctor said he's too young and DS2 is too young for him to make a rational decision. Which is true, cos he's decided he'd like more now. Just nit this soon!
