we have completed our nursery and managed to get a radiator in the babies room because we know it's important to keep baby temp consistant at night. I dont have radiator in our bedroom and just found out that babies are supposed to be kept in parents room for first couple of weeks to reduce cot death. but my bedroom is very cold, but we have electric blanket, so not an issue for us. I have another heater but gets to stiffling. so is it better for baby to be in own nursery or cold parents room?

Cold parents room, with layers adjusted accordingly.

Houses haven't always had central heating so just do what your grandparents would have done in a col house... wrap the baby up.

I thought it was preferable for the first 6 months to be spent sleeping in the parents room where possible or has the advice changed again?

Oh, and the recommendation is that the baby stays in with you for about 6 months rather than a few weeks.

The recommendations are 6 months, but do what is best for you as a family, my dd moved into her own room at about 4 weeks because she was such a noisey sleeper that we never got any sleep at all. She is now nearly 8 months and a healthy happy baby, and we are happier and less sleep deprived than alot of my friends who still have their babies in their rooms.

Our nursery gets very cold and we don't like to leave the heating on over night due to the cost of oil heating, so we purchased a small electric oil filled radiator for about £40 and it is very very cost efficient, we keep it on low all night long just to keep the chill off. Just to note that we also have a fire alarm installed in her room too for piece of mind.

Our baby will be having its own room but this is cause our 2 bedroom doors opp each other so i can see them sleeping from my bed if both doors open. Also my DH works shifts getting up at 4am when on earlys and not coming to bed till 12am when on lates and this is another reason baby will have own room.
