Keeley, you're more likely to get a response if you post in the conception or infertility boards I think?

I have, what do you want to chat about?

keely027 · 13/12/2011 09:39

have you thought about how to tell your child? what method are you thinking about?

We conceived using donor sperm, just waiting for baby to come now! We got lots of great help and advice from the Donor Conception Network and they were amazing for talking through how to tell your children.
Our idea is to use My Story which is available through DCN and just read this book lots and lots with our child and basically try to be as honest and open as possible about how they were conceived and why they were conceived in this way.
If you are not in touch with DCN I would highly recommend joining them for all the help, advice and support they offer.

I've also responded in Conception. I hadn't heard of DCN and to be honest I wouldn't ordinarily contact organisations for support. I don't think that anything could be more damaging than lying to a child about this. I plan to be open and honest too. There is nothing to hide or be ashamed of. A very generous (anonymous) man helped us conceive a child who will have two loving parents. I was going to use story books as well, they will be next to Cinderella or Thomas the Tank Engine as if it were perfectly normal - because it will be for us.

i was thinking of using the books but dont know when to start? what age?
