My left breast is very painful at the minute, has been all day and is getting worse. My midwife seems to think this could be the start of mastitis!

It is a deep pain in my breast (I am quite large norked anyway), but I didn't think you could get it when pregnant! Plus i don't feel ill at all.

is there anything I can do to make it go away, or do i have to wait until i develope flu symptoms and a temperature?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

try a hot bath or hot flannel on inflamed area. helped me (when I had it after birth). I've had a recurrence this pregnancy (but then I had an abscess etc last time) and needed antibiotics to clear it up. Hopefully you won't need them.

A warm shower head directed onto the area, and then down towards the nipple helped a lot when I had mastitis.

Do you feel at all fluey yet?

Don't feel ill at all! I feel fine. I have given my boob a good squeezy massaging though, and quite a but of stuff came out (sorry if TMI!), and it doesn't seem to hurt quite as much now.

How pg are you now? Was it milk that came out, or something more gunky? Have you got a thermometer so you can check your temp now, to see if goes up?

Hope it all starts to feel better soon
