Sausage Fingers!

29 weeks and I've woken up this morning with lovely sausage shaped fingers that are still swelling this morning. Had to remove my normally very loose ring already.

Spoken to the hospital who say it could be normal swelling or the start of pre-eclampsia. I'm at home now but have to go in if I get a headache, visual disturbances, or any pain in bump. Baby is happily doing star jumps but as usual I'm a bit paranoid.

Does anyone have any reassuring stories of sausage fingers?

Don't have any stories sorry mummy but think you have done the right thing in calling the hospital. I would also give the MW a call tomorrow if I were you and discuss it with her.

Thought you mind find this helpful too. Xmas Smile.

Thank you jilted! Going to keep an eye on the website. Swelling seems to be going down a little bit though still swollen so fingers crossed it'll carry on going down during the day.

I had PE in my first pregnancy so when I was pregnant again with DC2 I was hyper vigilant. My fingers did swell up and I wasn't able to get my rings on, but I never developed the high BP or protein in urine second time round. Will you be seeing your mw soon to get your bp etc checked?

Here's a positive sausage fingers story. I was ridiculously swollen for the last two months of my last pregnancy, couldn't get rings or shoes on, wore 2x sizes too big flip flops.

For the last few weeks I was monitored for PE and I was absolutely fine. There was one BP monitor where I seemed to run high, but in the antenatal day unit I was always fine and never had any protein in my urine.

My fingers were always tingling and I had carpal tunnel and tendinitis. I tried acupuncture to help, and when he pulled out the needles, water actually leaked out of my leg!

On the plus side, it seems that most of my weight gain was water. I was back to pre-pregnancy weight within two weeks.

Hi Jaffa, reassuring to know that you had the swelling with no PE. Not seeing the MW until the 21st so a little way to go until then but if it continues then I'll get an appointment with the GP or go to hospital. I'd rather wait for 6 hours and be told it's nothing than risk it.

X posts Yank. Good to hear another good sausage fingers story! Love the water weight story too! I've really puffed up in the last few weeks so hopefully that is just water weight too :-)
