So I have had the worst indigestion for weeks now (am 32 weeks) and it is escalating to the point of silliness. I have pills from the doctor and Gaviscon but last night, after a small dinner but a pint of water, I was so 'full' that is sort of spontaneously threw up.

Yup, just threw up on the spot. Thankfully was in bathroom but WTF? Carried on throwing up until stomach was empty (and felt much better TBH)

Is this normal? Pregnancy books say only to consult dr if vomiting severe and persistent in third trimester so I think it must be?

I don't want to be regurgitating my food at the drop of a hat!

Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes, sitting up in bed right now because lying down is making it worse. Knackered with a toddler so would dearly love to be sleeping.

I also have pills, but have stopped taking gaviscon because it wasn't helping.

I don't eat after 7 at night normally and I avoid the foods I can't tolerate all the time.

Before I imposed these rules on.myself ( and won't they be fun over Xmas?!) I. Was often sick, now it's much more infrequent. 3 weeks to go for me, but it's been an issue through the third trimester.

You should Google preeclampsia and make sure you don't have any other of the symptoms, as heartburn type pains and vomiting can be symptoms. If you do get your bp checked ASAP.

TopazMortmain · 11/12/2011 00:46

Thanks both.

My BP was 90/50 two days ago so I am going to presume it's still low but will see dr next week if it continues.

Well Christmas is going to be fun... Have visions of sipping a turkey and cranberry smoothie while everyone else gets their chops around some lovely big dinners.

Dammit. Perhaps I could turn the unexpected throwing up Into a parlour trick?

Perhaps not.

Check the symptoms just in case, I had low bp before I got pe.

differentnameforthis · 11/12/2011 01:01

Agree with lumin, heartburn type pain & vomiting can be symptoms of PE.

Please don't wait a week, PE escalates V quickly!

I have heard - I think on a pregnancy podcast so not written in stone ... that water can make heart burn worse and a pint is a lot of water ! But always call MW if worried at all !

TopazMortmain · 11/12/2011 08:40

Yes, I do think I am going to chalk this up to baby kicking stomach at the same time as I had eaten a massive meal followed by enormous glass of water followed by lying down quickly Grin

Have been fine today when eating little amounts. Dr has tested my heart rate, weight, urine and blood pressure every two weeks so will just keep an eye on any subsequent vomiting in next 24 / 48 hours.

I think it was not the throwing up so much as the suddenness of it that got me. One minute all full and bloated, the next... Regurgitation and one big mess. Blush

Forgot, this morning the dinner was small in my memory, but DH has reminded meow actual scale of my eating... There may have been 3 courses and bread...

I've been the same since wk 30 (now 39+6), took me a while to realise that eating a normal sized meal just triggers vomiting. I find that having the largest meal of the day at lunch rather than tea time has made a big difference - less likely to flop on the sofa straight after which definitely doesnt help! Had to give up milk too (it's killing me cos i crave banana milkshakes!) but the torturous heartburn an hour later (often followed by vomming) just isnt worth it, sigh.

babycarmen · 11/12/2011 10:34

Im 32 weeks and getting the same thing so you have my sympathy!!

MiauMau · 11/12/2011 11:39

No vomiting here but, definitely the heartburn is back especially at night Confused

brettgirl2 · 11/12/2011 11:44

Have you got Rinitidine or Omeprazole from the doctor? Rinitidine is crap and if Omeprazole you may be able to take a higher dose so either way go back. I am allowed to take up to 40mg of Omeprazole per day if I need to (and I take it all the time not just during pregnancy)

Mum2be79 · 11/12/2011 12:02

Omeprazole

A wonder drug!!!!!!! I began taking it last Wednesday (36 + 3) and I've suffered no recurrent acid reflux since. I'm only on 20mg. I'm sooooo happy with it!!! Grin

Unfortunately I do not live in the UK and the choices here for meds are really limited Sad - my boss just flew in and gave me a jiffy bag of Tumms and I could have kissed him. I do have a tiny supply of Gaviscon and the pills I DO have from doc work for a couple of hours but am only allowed one a day. Might start taking it at night...

It really feels like my stomach has been taken over by feet Confused
