Ring the labour ward and tell them. I drank 4oz with 2oz orange juice twice in 24 hours and went into labour. The shooting pains can be labour - I didn't realise until my waters were bulging and I was 9cm with DD2 that I was in labour. I had her on the living room floor!

Ounces? I thought you took castor oil in one or two teaspoonfuls, not ounces.

If you're still hanging on, can I suggest evening primrose capsules? You need the high strength one at least 1000mg and you take one orally and pop one inside at night (tmi, I know) but it helps the cervix to efface and dilate because it works similar to prostaglandin pessaries. It won't make you sick or give you the squits either. I tried this with DD1, and my waters went the following day. Good luck :) x

yummicheddars · 14/12/2011 17:56

Omg really! I'm gonna have to make a note of that for 20 weeks time! Lol what did you do then? Swallow one and put one inside?

Tigrelily · 14/12/2011 18:04

Yeah, The closer you can get it to your cervix, the better. Do it at night, so you're lying down... That way the oil can touch your cervix better. Oh, and wear a pad! It might take a couple of days to work :)

I think I will deff try that one then :D as long as its doesn't have nasty side affects

Tigrelily · 14/12/2011 19:23

I didn't have any, and my sister swears by it too :)

Bitofasurpise · 14/12/2011 19:36

O
Trip trap

namechangerbat · 14/12/2011 19:40

Seriously?

Stop offering advice about shoving things up one another's vaginas. Are any of you medically trained?

Tigrelily · 14/12/2011 19:53

No, but my midwife is, and she recommended it... Provided that the membranes are still intact, it's perfectly safe, and much less dangerous than drinking castor oil. I was only saying what worked for me, so sorry if I caused offence :S

yummicheddars · 14/12/2011 20:59

You gave me great advice tigrelily thankyou, I have been medically induced before and it is not nice at all. so I will try what I have to other then castor oil.

namechangerbat · 14/12/2011 21:09

BUT you didn't give the full advice first time, just advocated that she stick a capsule up her chuff, no mention of membranes being intact.

Be mindful of what you advocate as right or safe, some people will follow others blindly.
