The shooting pains may be the baby descending into your pelvis?

I hope your diarrhoea wears of by the time you go into labour. Could be rather unpleasant for all involved otherwise.

Savannahrose · 11/12/2011 00:20

Saucykelly ignore the bitchy comments. Everyone tries different things at the end of their pregnancy, and drinking castor oil is no different. It's an old wives tale that has different effects on each individual. I know people who have tried it and had NOTHING at all happen. I find that some of the mumsnet membes are very bitchy and have posted this before, several times actually. We come on here for advise and end up in situation like this. Those members should be banned. I mean, I've read post where women have slept with more than one man and are uncertain of the father of their baby but not slated like you have been for taking castor oil? Wtf? What is the world coming too? Oh yeah go ahead and sleep with whoever unprotected and give your baby whatever sti but oh nooooo don't have a sip of castor oil you evil lady!!?? Lol

I hope your feeling better soon. Take care :) xxx

Sorry for spelling mistakes stupid iPad x

yummicheddars · 11/12/2011 00:46

I really hope your ok hugs some of the comments on here are really nasty. I agree with savannahrose that some mumsnetters can be pretty harsh when all we want it advice. I had to change my name due to embarrassment and feeling ashamed because of comments when I asked for advice. Everyone makes mistakes, in this case she took castor oil. Which is a complete personal choice. So who is to even say its a mistake actually. Hope ur ok OP. Ur not silly n stupid..just eager to see your baby and most likely very fed up. And as for your age, that's ridiculous people would even judge you..do they know ur circumstances.no. So not fair at all. I'm 21 got a 2 and half year old and 20 weeks pregnant. Would of been 3 kids but miscarried at 16... Does that make me a bad person? Or OP in her situation.. Not at all!

minceorotherwise · 11/12/2011 00:50

Saucy, you sound a bit scared. Call your midwife so that she can reassure you. Sounds like the after effects of castor oil obviously. Doesn't matter if you feel silly. All that matters is that you feel safe and you and your baby are ok. Just ring. They've heard worse !

minceorotherwise · 11/12/2011 01:17

Yes, very helpful. Saucy, log off and call your midwife

KarenMillenCoat · 11/12/2011 01:26

It's an invasion. Get the tinfoil! Grin

OP try not to panic and call your midwife for some advice and/or reassurance. Mumsnet is super fab and all but you probably need to chat with a professional about this one.

Good! Now don't do it again!!!!!

pixie04 · 11/12/2011 11:59

Hope your'e feeling better. So many meanies on here! It was discussed during my NCT ante natal course as a method of induction. It was described to me as similar bodily response to a hot curry. It certainly wasn't discouraged apart from the fact it could taste awful. As I understand it the fact that it irritates your bowels and digestive systems is supposed to help set off contractions if you are ready to go. Of course you don't wanna be dehydrated prior to labour but I've not heard anything that says it does harm to the baby.

You never know after a nights sleep things may kick off today Smile fingers crossed for you X

TheOriginalFAB · 11/12/2011 12:11

Does your baby normally move continually for 5 hours?

saucykellie1989 · 11/12/2011 18:45

no she never has before, thas ok tho isnt it?

OP posts:
fhdl34 · 11/12/2011 18:54

Any change in your baby's pattern of movements, increase or decrease, should be checked out, in case the baby is in distress. When you spoke to the hospital or midwife, did you mention the change in movements?

TheOriginalFAB · 11/12/2011 21:41

No, not really. Any change in movements needs to be checked whether baby is moving more or less than normal.

fhdl34 · 11/12/2011 21:57

Did you speak to the hospital to check the baby is okay after the change in movement pattern? Hope all is okay

nursenic · 11/12/2011 22:03

It has no evidence base. it's an old wives tale that people assumed must work because people who drank it and then went into labour naturally correlated the two.

The start of labour is a complex symphony of many different factors and if a baby is not ready to be born, it will not be shifted. All C.O does its irritate the GI tract and it was thought that this stimulated the uterus. it does not. It is a coincidence.

What's more worrying is these bloody midwives who keep advocating it when they know darn well through their training, that their advice MUST BE evidence based!

fhdl34 · 11/12/2011 22:08

In defence of the OP, my mum says that when she was pregnant 30+ years ago, the midwives used to encourage women to drink it. I'm not saying that means the OP should've done it but it's obviously something that used to be encouraged and some people will try anything if they're desperate to get the baby out. My mum never did it though.

saucykellie1989 · 12/12/2011 11:34

babys fine, castor oiul didnt work, wil not ever take it again...
any1 know how to lower my cervix..my mw sed im not dilatin or even effaced & my cervix is high,im over due & need this baby out??

OP posts:
TheOriginalFAB · 12/12/2011 11:43

Medicine has progressed and people learn from mistakes of the past.

I doubt veyr much anyone knows how you can lower your cervix.

TheOriginalFAB · 12/12/2011 11:44

Also, not classed as over due at 40 + 2.

fuckityfuckfuckfuck · 12/12/2011 11:48

Cervix high and no dilation or effacement means you're just going to have to wait it out. Really, please just relax. Agree, 40+2 isn't even close to being overdue.
