The title says it all really!

I'm 10 weeks pregnant with my first baby and am suffering today with painful trapped wind in my upper abdomen combined with constipation. I don't usually suffer with these ailments so wondered if anyone had any good suggestions for remedies? Thanks in advance

Lactulose on prescription from your GP, coupled with fybogel if it doesnt work on it's own. I suffered terribly with constipation up until about 18 weeks and that worked for me x

Peppermint tea after meals (or fennel tea).

Eat smaller meals more frequently.

Drink loads of water.

Have a dried apricot or two every morning.

Agree with iggly and go easy on lentils and onions, which are evil for trapped wind!!

Thank you! Am just trying a cup of peppermint tea and will make sure I'm better with my water too. I think that may be the problem actually, before pregnancy I drank so much water 2-3 litres a day but have struggled with it since being pregnant and only manage about 1.5 litres a day. My digestive system has probably gone into shock!

I had awful constipation until about 13 weeks and eating kiwi fruit really helped. I thought it was just me but after reading up on it apparently they a natural laxative like prunes plus I think they taste nicer!
