Present for someone on bedrest?

I have a close friend who has been put on complete bedrest due to threatened premature labour. She is not quite 24 weeks, so outlook at the moment is not so positive. She is on the labour ward with no working TV, no access to internet and no visitors except for partner Sad

I really want to send something in to cheer her up and give her something to do all day when she is on her own. She has some books already. I thought of magazines...but then I'm stuck beyond that!

Any ideas gratefully received!!

puzzle book?
knitting/cross stitching stuff?
Scapbooking materials?

A puzzle book might help. I know she has said it is hard to even write cards as she is completely horizontal (not even allowed to sit up/recline IYSWIM) so that might make scrapbooking or most crafty things a little tricky. :)

Right...am thinking hand cream, dry shampoo, puzzle books, food! Anything else?

Something audio related?

You could do a her a music complication if favourites or audio books or DAB radio? You can get them cheap on eBay.

Jigsaw puzzle? I find them quite therapeutic!

Love the idea of a DAB radio! Maybe a jigsaw puzzle would occupy her mind. I am going to pick some things up tomorrow and drop them into the hospital.

Have you got an ipod or something you could lend her? Or a group of friends who could club together and get her a Kindle (easier to hold up with one hand than books, and you can get the paper, journals etc).
