Hi ladies really hoping that someone knows something about all of this.
So I'm almost 18 weeks now and found out I was pregnant around 6 weeks. When I first visited my GP I took along the face cram I was using at the time - an American brand called NeoStrata that contains PHA's (same family as AHA's but not as strong) she took a look and said that as long as it didn't contain anything remotely in connection with Vit-A or things like Asprin should be fine.
Have since stopped using the cream at about 14/15 weeks because my skin had changed slightly.
However have since read on another forum (all be it an American one) that anything with AHA's are really really bad!! Does anyone have any info about this? Would really appreciate anything. Pregnancy guilt is awful!!!

I think the theoretical problem here is that products containing AHAs can increase the sensitivity of the skin, especially in some cases to sunlight. As your skin can become more sensitive in pregnancy, the sensitive effect might therefore be heightened.

So, it's about you, not the baby (nothing's entering your bloodstream anyway) so make your own mind up depending on your skin. I personally wouldn't give this a second thought- you're going to have a very long 22 weeks if you stress over things like this. Smile
