I'm very nearly 42 weeks and had been desperately hoping for a very natural vbac. I had initially wanted a homebirth but a very low transfer in threshold made me think i'd feel more in control in a mlu attached to the main unit.

I am easily hospital phobic and no 1 birth was pretty traumatic for me with long induction and eventual c section. I hated being stuck on a bed desperate to move and hated not being able to pick up baby after.

I have a consultant appointment today where they will probably suggest induction again although there is a choice of a planned c section. I'm pretty sure options are limited for type of induction.

I'm terrified of going back in and am sure that the whole fight or flight reflex isn't helping me and certainly won't when i'm in.
Any suggestions or stories? Thanks.

Lots you can try yourself!

How about visualising/ relaxation. See your baby's labour starting.

Do lots of kneeling over a birthball/ pile of cushions to get your baby into a good position.

Sex and nipple stimulation (together or separately!) are both well researched and proven to work.

I had vbac, and then home birth with no.3 :)

Homebirth.org is great for this kind of thing even if you're not planning a homebirth.

Good luck

After a first EMSC I was induced with DD2. Waters went with first contraction and she arrived within 4 hours. All very nice and calm.
I was then induced for the next 2 labours, too and they only lasted 2 hours each and not a whiff of any G&A or anything.

It is scary when something has not worked out well the first time, but there is no reason that it will happen again.

Good luck for today! Smile

I'm booked in now for saturday morning! Apparently this hospital will use a pessary with a vbac (!) but at least it means I put off hte drop for a bit.

Apparently cervix is "favourable" so they are still hoping I can labour without c section. I'm very nervous about spending it all in hospital but hey...
