I am 29 weeks with 3rd pregnancy and in my last two I have been hungry all the time no matter what. This time though in my 3rd trimester I am hungry all the time as usual but I dont want food :( I cant think of anything I feel like eating and when I do eat I am not enjoying it at all . Has anyone else had this? or heard of this?

As long as you've not actually stopped eating I htink it's fine to find it a bit of a chore. I'm 25 weeks and tbh have such raging heartburn that the thought of eating can in itself turn my stomach. My lungs feel squished up so I'm breathless a lot of the time. But at this stage, much more than the nauseous first trimester, I really notice it when I haven't eaten, I get seriously lightheaded, so I don't let myself go too long without something to eat. Try a trip around the supermarket and just throw anything that you may fancy into your basket. I did this earlier and ended up with spring rolls, soup and croissants. Hideous nutritionally I suppose, but it's something to keep me going (not all at once mind you Wink)

Yea I went round the supermarket yesterday and just thought Blegh to all foods. I live to eat normally as a person so this is really alien to me. I am still getting so hungry though.

Hi I'm 36 weeks now and this pregnancy I have lost 10lbs of weight. I have had dreadful acid reflux since the beginning and don't feel hungry at all. Sometimes I only manage to eat 1 small meal a day. The docs don't seem bothered and I had a scan yesterday and baby was already 6lbs. I am thinking of trying smoothies as a way to tempt me. I would just try to eat small little meals when you are hungry rather than when you think you should eat.

I went off food at about 4wks and haven't wanted any since. Now 34wks. MW is fine with it as long as I am eating at least 3 meals or 6 snacks a day. Grazing on fruit might help...it's kept me sort of sane...
I have things I def. do not want to eat (mainly sugary-sweet things), but am basically having to eat rather than eating for any form of pleasure.
Just wish people would stop saying things like "Well, you're the pregnant one, you decide what you want and I'll have that". How's about a big bowl of NOTHING then...

Oh! waves to nanny*.

I'm like this second time round.

Pretty much the only things I've not gone off are small amounts of white foods - pasta with cheese, jacket potatoes, chip shop chips, white bread toast. Nothing of any nutritional value. Otherwise I can tuck into roast beef Monster Munch with gusto (or any kind of cake or biscuit) so I've been getting a vitamin and some iron down my neck first thing to at least make sure the nutrients the baby takes from my body are being replenished.

What I find helps is very little. Another thread with similar posts suggested getting all your five-a-day in the morning, which is fine if you can face them but if you can't then there's no point forcing yourself to try to eat or drink something that's going to make you feel sick. If I want to eat something then I eat it there and then (helped because I am at home all day) because I know that by a 'mealtime' I may well not want anything. Other than that, it's a case of sitting it out. If only I was so averse to food when not pregnant, I'd be much less porky!

I had this. I used to wander around the tesco metro next to my work every morning and just buy whatever I fancied that day. Usually cake, cheese and pickled beetroot...

SarahBumBarer · 08/12/2011 15:00

Oh yeah to the beetroot.

I had this with DS1 - overall I put no weight on during the pregnancy and was 1 stone lighter after he was born (still with a jelly belly though). This time I was madly hungry at first (but full up really quickly) but again at 12 weeks am getting to the point where I am never really hungry but get the odd really intense craving (beetroot, pickled onions) which is cured as soon as I have a tiny portion. Food shopping is a nightmare, fortunately DH enjoys it so I let him do the shopping (or my cart would be empty) and just try to be sensible and graze on what I know I should eat. Bizarrely I am looking forward to looking forward to food again - ie yesterday DH and I went to a steakhouse for lunch and he was really enjoying his steak and I was thinking of how much I am looking forward to being at a point where I can really enjoy a steak again.

esandi · 08/12/2011 19:32

Ah thanks all, yea I have only had a bowl of soup all day and a peice of toast. My DH cooked me a jacket potato which I managed but I am already whishing I had not eaten it I feel really sick and out of breath now and my bump is hurting across the front. Everything is now repeating on me even water. My baby is transverse and I am wondering if he is pressing on something which is making me want to puke as I have not had this type of sicky feeling about food with the other pregnancies where the babies were in a normal position. :-/

Yes I went off it in the first tri and have gone off it again now at 34wks. I need to go back to the midwife next week because I am measuring 3 weeks behind and i'm worried I might not be eating enough. I am sure I am (3 x meals plus a snack or two) but I just can't help it.
