Hi.
i was hoping for some wisdom from experience. I'm at 11/12 weeks (i hope), on sunday started bleeding, small amount of dark blood. mw said relax and call gp if it gets worse. was getting some mild period pains and more bleeding. on tuesday went to the toilet and two blood clots about the size of 10p. panicked and call gp who was great. brought my scan forward to tomorrow at the early pregnancy assessment unit. i'm trying to ready myself for this, i think i'm about 90% sure nothing will be seen on the scan but was hoping for anyone else's experience. the other thing that might be odd is sickness (all day constantly for 2 weeks!) stopped, as did sore breasts, about 2 weeks ago. I've read lots on www, some say this can all be ok, others say this is bad, any thoughts???

I don't really think anything apart from the scan can give you the answers you need. I'm sorry you are having to go through such a worrying time, and I do know how hard the waiting for a scan is, especially when you fear the worst.
To be honest, a lot of people have their symptoms subside at 10 weeks so I wouldn't read too much into that. There are also a number of explanations of bleeding when everything turns out fine.

fingers crossed for a good scan outcome for you. In the meantime try not to torture yourself by googling miscarriage stuff on the internet.

I had symptoms coming and going on everyday basis. Many of them stopped at 6 -8 week. I am 10w6d and had an unexplained bleeding last Friday I had an u/s on Saturday and everything was fine. However I had another one yesterday and trying not to panic. From all that I read on it so far it can be "just a bleeding" or something indicating a problem. Try to calm down and wait for your scan, this is the only way of finding out what is going on. Best of luck!

Thank you, glad to hear your scan was good. i had a mc at 6 weeks in summer this year and we were so pleased it seemed to be going well this time, trying to relax and really do hope i get to see the magic of a heartbeat on the scan!

I have read that symptoms can die off at 10w due to placenta kicking in Hmm

also I had bleeding with both pregnancies at 7-8 weeks and all went on to be ok:)

fingers crossed it all works out ok x

I had this with 2 out of 4 pregnancies, both girls. None last time round (boy) or this time round (sex unknown!). With DC1 I had it at 11 weeks for a couple of days, cause was never discovered but I did have a low lying placenta in the 20 week scan which can make you more prone to bleeding.

With DC2 I had it at 6 weeks and went to my GP. All he said he could do was a blood test a few days apart to check my HCG levels were still rising and he had a look with the duck billed thing they use for smear tests to check my cervix was closed, it was which was classed as a good sign. I had a scan at 8 weeks and all ok then had bleeding again at 12 weeks. This time a blood clot was detected outside the sac the baby was in and they reckoned I would bleed for 2 weeks as it broke down, they were right.

It is a very worrying time as you want to go to the loo to know the bleeding has stopped but on the other hand you don't in case it is still there but keep your fingers crossed. I have read stories when it has been happening to me of ladies bleeding so heavily it is running down their legs but the baby is fine. It is unfortunately another one of those not to uncommon pregnancy symptoms.

Good luck

thank you so much for sharing your experience, i find it so odd so much is unknown and not understood! you're right about not wanting to go to the toilet, very nervous time.
