8 weeks and really breaking out across face?

Is this hormone related? My diet isn't much worse than it was before I was pregnant, not any extra greasy foods, etc. and only eaten chocolate once in the last 8 weeks!

Has anyone else experienced this and is there anything I can do to counteract it? I thought we were supposed to have a healthy glow - not red, angry spots!

Think so Fish my skin is really bad at the moment too. I think it wears off in time!

If you had any skin problems before pregnancy, unfortunately they'll be worse during it due to the hormones. I had a bit of rosacea and the occasional spot before and now it's much worse. Sorry for the bad news!

Hi Fish :)

I could have written your post. I clicked on this hoping there would be a magic solution but it seems we're stuck with it :(

Mine did this, it made me very :(. I had never had much trouble before. My face is better now, at 15 weeks, but my back is suffering.

Some people 'glow' during pregnancy, their skin glows, their hair goes shiny etc. Some people's skin goes downhill, their hair falls out, they have problems with their teeth etc. There will ALWAYS be something that worsens for you during pregnancy and something that improves. For you it seems to be your skin.

For me, I'm enormous and my back is VERY sore. I think I'd rather have bad skin than a painful back but I guess we get dealt what we get dealt.

I had major skin break outs on my face in my first pregnancy from about 6 weeks till 16 weeks, so much so that my boss guessed I was pregnant. He said you managed to develop a pile of spots overnight so he guessed it was pregnancy hormones. Thankfully thought I have only ever had it in my 1st pregnancy not in the other 3. So although it is bad just now like most pregnancy things it will pass and you may not get it next time round.

Oh poo. I'm planning on just the one baby so will never know if this would repeat itself! Hopefully it will go away with time then.

I had terrible skin in first tri (must be the hormone surges) but after about wk 14, it really cleared up and I've had no trouble since Grin

RockChick1984 · 07/12/2011 20:15

I had awful skin for first few months of my pregnancy (never had spots before, even as a teenager!) it cleared up for the rest of my pregnancy then went even worse for first 2 months postnatal!

hello, just to say i did suffer with bad skin before i got pregnant and was on a pill called Yasmin which really helped. When i came off the pill the spots came back and in early pregnancy i had quite a few but after the first 3 months they soon disappeared and i had a really healthy glow for the rest of my time. My DS is 4 months now and i am breast feeding and still have clear skin. Really hope you're clears as it can get you down can't it! good luck x
