Has anybody here got any experience with hypnobirthing. DH and I have been looking into it, and it seems to have positive reviews. Before we shell out on a course, I was wondering if anyone here had done it, and if it had been successful?

Thanks :)

I've done the course but not given birth yet (I'm 37+6) so can't give any reviews of an actual hypnobirth but we're loving all the prep and it's made a real difference to us. We're both a lot more confident and I'm really looking forward to giving birth.
As I've had a high risk pregnancy due to high BMI, I went into it thinking that even if it kept me calm throughout the pregnancy and helped me approach the birth in a calm way then it was worth it but it's helped me be more confident at consultant appointments as well and my husband. We're also having a hypnobirthing doula but we have made savings in other areas to pay for this - we got most of our baby stuff free or 2nd hand (or as gifts) and we're not having christmas presents this year. It was a personal choice for us (in fact, DH wanted the doula more than I did as men have quite a lot to do if you're hypnobirthing and as the consultants have wanted to intervene from word go, he felt he needed some support) and we've not regretted it. I shall post on here after I've actually given birth but now that I'm having a lot more practice surges, I can see more how the breathing techniques work with your body. As you can see, I'm very enthusiastic about it :)
