To wax or not to wax

Hello again ladies,

I am pg with my first and I am undecided about whether I should wax my pubic hair before the birth or not.

This is not an aesthetic thing, I honestly couldn't care what the docs or midwives think about my house keeping down there. I am more concerned with healing after the birth and whether either way is more comfortable.

Can anyone offer any advice from experience?

Personally, I didn't bother.
The doctors and nurses have seen it all before and I can't believe that being waxed makes it any more pleasant to look at than in its natural state!!

On the other hand, being waxed or unwaxed would make no difference to the comfort or healing. The area that's going to heal isn't where you'd wax. (Usually!)

I had a Brazilian, just because I usually do. As someone who normally uses tampons I found the pads for the lochia revolting. At least with less hair there I felt cleaner than I would have done otherwise. I was also happy in hindsight not to have hairs near my CS scar. It just felt right for me. I'd just do what you think will make you feel best, I'm sure waxing makes no real difference to hygiene or healing.

I'm early in PG so don't have to think about this yet! But I will probably have my usual Brazilian. My best friend recently gave birth and had a Hollywood before and she says she's so glad she did as, as previous poster said dealing with the bleeding felt so much less disgusting without any hair down there.

wax! as sprinkles said, you feel cleaner! thats why i get it done anyway. I also think it encourages them to come out, my daughter popped out the day after my hollywood at 39 weeks. considerate girl!

With ds, I didn't wax beyond a bikini line (got full leg and bikini line and tummy around 38 weeks because had a party coming up which I wanted to wear nude tights at and couldn't shave my legs due to bump in the way, and also wanted some nice B&W nude bump photos). I had a c-section in the end and they don't even bother shaving you anymore and being hairy there wasn't a problem.

wax :) I did but mainly because I usually do anyway - if it's not something you do then I wouldn't bother - it's not like it's required ;)

I was glad I did as I ended up with an EMCS and the wound is quite low so everything felt much cleaner and easier.
