Iam 17 weeks pg, and so far have only put on 3lbs, I have no syptoms apart form loss of appetite early on. I don't look pg at all, and am worried I'm not putting on enough weight. Were you all quite big by this stage?

I was very similar to you, didn't start putting weight on till about 7 months gone. Apparently my mum was the same, so must be a family thing! As long as scan, mw are happy with how you're progressing, I wouldn't worry about the weight at this stage. You would only just be starting to show at this stage anyway.

Same story here: both with ds1 and ds2 I only started putting on weight in the last 2 months of pregnancy. Don't worry, as long as mw-s are happy, you and baby are fine!

I only put on about a stone each time.

WideWebWitch · 08/01/2006 15:16

at Tinks and all non lardy ones!

mummytosteven · 08/01/2006 15:18

I put on shedloads of weight after being PG though, if that's any consolation, WWW!

fastasleep · 08/01/2006 15:23

I put looooooads on, loads and loads... and then it all fell off really nicely! boast... only after the second one though, was completely lardy in between!

Everyone's different, some gorgeous people I know people stayed skinny as a stick insect throughout the whole thing and then had 8 pound + babies!

fastasleep · 08/01/2006 15:24

Ack hello my name's fastasleep and I can't type for sh....

WideWebWitch · 08/01/2006 15:32

it is mts!

Mercy · 08/01/2006 16:01

With dd I put on nearly 2 stone, with ds just over 1.

I didn't have a bump or look pregnant until at least 20 weeks with dd, even though I couldn't wear my normal jeans by about 16 weeks. The weight came on in the last 2 months.

mrspitt · 08/01/2006 18:33

Sorry for being a bit thick but when people say ooh i put on 4 stone or only a stone etc , does that include everything before baby is born/ You know weight of baby, placenta, fluid, blood , milk?
Or is it what you weigh after baby is born?

geranium · 08/01/2006 18:40

I put on about 1.5 stones during pregnancy (and about a stone enjoying myself afterward ). This pregnancy (half way through) I'm still less than my starting weight but expect to start putting on weight soon. However, a cautionary tale: my friend was really thrilled she only put on 2-3kg during her whole pregnancy and her baby was 9lbs. Another friend who put on loads had a 7lb 7 baby. So weight gain doesn't always mean a big baby!

kitegirl · 08/01/2006 18:56

I did not put on any weight during the first trimester and then... 4 st! That's because I started eating when I found out that I was pg and did not stop until in the hospital and on the operating table. Ds was 9lb 4 so I guess we both enjoyed the curries!

I lost it all though!!!

WigWamBam · 08/01/2006 18:57

I lost 2 stone (thank you, permanent morning sickness!) Agree with MTS - if your scans are OK and the midwives are happy with the way things are going then I wouldn't worry. You're still pretty early on - I wouldn't expect you to have put huge amounts of weight on by now.

munz · 08/01/2006 18:59

i've put on about a stone (well had done up to 7 months) haven't weighed in the last month! lol. was hoping to put on the 2 stone the recon.

aprilmeadow · 09/01/2006 08:45

I was barely showing at 17wks, had maybe put on half a stone. I put 3st on in total. Still trying to shift that last half stone, ds is 8.5mths.

cathyspam · 09/01/2006 08:51

i was 2 lbs lighter at the end of my 1st pregnancy and put on about 4 lbs with 2nd but am a fatty anyway and midwife says this is quite common in bigger girls. I had two 8lb 1oz healthy boys and was nearly 2 stone lighter 6 weeks after each was born! put it all back on in between though!
