What i find amazing is that the week before I conceived I had run my first ever half marathon, was in the best physical shape of my life, and even had the beginnings of a mini six-pack!

Now my muscle tone has completely disappeared and I look just like a pregnant lady of about 20 wks :o

Not that I'm complaining! am so happy to be pg but am just astounded that the LO can only be about 1.5ins long and yet I have this huge round belly - it must be ever so comfortable in there

Wow, that is amazing ! You must be so happy and proud.

I am nine weeks on Wednesday and I can't decide if you can tell or not (probably not if I am being honest)

Have you told your friends and family ?

I am just wondering how I am going to get through Christmas without everyone guessing when I refuse wine !!

Take Care

i am about 6-7 weeks and about the same size i was at 16 weeks with dd!! i was pretty neat with my first though and barely had a bump at all by the time she was born, albeit prematurely. also, last time, i was bigger at 12 weeks when my uterus popped above the symphis pubis than i was at 16 weeks once it started stretching up rather than out.
i had quite a flat stomach before being pregnant but my muscles have clearly gone on strike Xmas Shock. i am told this is quite normal for a second pregnancy. i am much more bloated this time round as well. goodness knows what i will be like at 9/12/20 weeks or whatever Xmas Blush
hehehe love it though!

It's probably just water retention. between 6-11 weeks I was so bloated people were already asking If I was pregnant I could have easily passed for 5/6 months! Apparently water retention is really common in the early stages, unfortunately the babies are not big enough to make a bump. I'm now 19 weeks and am getting impatient as I have no bump at all, my bloating has gone and all I have is a little podge that appears usually after a Christmas dinner - would never know there's a baby in there! In the early days when I wasn't telling people & didn't want an obvious bump I had one now I want one - nothing!
I keep being reassured it will just appear soon - hope it bloody hurries up!

Bobkins, there is no mistaking this great big tum. I have already told quite a few people, and the rest are all going to find out at Christmas. I can't quite face fibbing about why I'm avoiding wine - and it will be pretty close to 13wks anyway by then. I am rubbish at keeping secrets!

Broccolitrees, do you think your uterus has popped already? wonder if that's what's happened to me too...

justhayley, hopefully this means you won't have too big a bump towards the end - which can be a real pain - with my first I put on 4 stone and ended up covered in stretchmarks which are still there 5yrs on :(

I found exactly the same- my first one, was fit, walked miles and miles every day, etc, and by nine/ten weeks had to move into maternity trousers as although OK if standing up, if I wanted to do anything crazy like, say, eat, I was too big to fit in normal clothes!

Thought it meant I was going to be HUGE- my Mum was enormous with me- but I'm here at 38 weeks, measuring slightly under and everyone comments on how neat the bump is. Have put on 1.5 stone in total.

So although it can happen, it doesn't necessarily mean that you'll be massive by the end. However, I know it's different for subsequent pregnancies.

I was in maternity jeans by 11 weeks with DC2 and DC3. I was very bloated but from 14 to 20 weeks my size didn't change at all. And by the end I was a similar size to DC1. For some reason it didn't happen with DC1 or DC4.

YummiMummi2b2012 · 05/12/2011 17:11

i have also encounted the need for maternity jeans since 8/9 weeks this is 2nd baby tho!! so using that as an excuse but expected it since my boobs exploded at 3/4 weeks went from a small D to a very large E would be ok but im currently onli 14 weeks now so terrified of what will happen when milk comes in :(

ScrummyYummyMummy · 05/12/2011 17:32

I'm 10 weeks and bought some new maternity trousers for work today as none of mine will do up. It's not an obvious bump - I just look fatter than normal at the mo! When I had dd1 I was 16-18 wks before I needed maternity clothes. Not so lucky this time! I can feel that I have very little muscle tone in my lower stomach.

bibbo I too have started to tell people this week. I had early scan last week to make sure everything was ok. The sonographer said the baby was measuring 26mm at 9+3...why is my bump like this then?!!

stinkingbishop · 05/12/2011 17:37

23 weeks, with twins. My tummy muscles have disappeared behind them. I have to roll sideways off any office chair to get up as there is no leverage. As to Saturday night telly on the sofa...And, talking of offices, I actually got stuck last week - there's a pillar outside one of the meeting rooms, good short cut normally, forgot I was a HIPPO, was wedged, terrified about squeezing them if I strained...ah the ensuing hilarity. Just wait till they're pregnant, mwahahahaha....

I am now too big for maternity jeans in my size. I am about to swallow all pride and buy braces. It's a look...

broccolitrees · 05/12/2011 21:56

bibbo your uterus normally does move up around the 12-13 week mark so quite possibly.

think mine is definite muscle strike. i googled why i had a bad back so early on and that only confirmed it:
"If this is your second baby you are more likely to get backache in your first trimester because your abdominal muscles - already weakened in your last pregnancy - are likely to be more flexible this time around. Your abdominals usually offer key support to many movements and when they can't work as hard it means extra work for your lower back". [fschock]
i already can't fasten my uniform trousers (pre-pregnancy) due to them being a stupid shape - i will be ordering belly belts this week! Xmas Blush

tethersjinglebellend · 05/12/2011 22:03

I am fucking massive.

I am 13 weeks and honestly look about 6 months gone at least.

Good to know I'm not alone Grin

stinkingbishop · 05/12/2011 22:48

Let's embrace our hugeness! At least I get offered seats on the train now :)

And guys, stop referring to it as 'bloated'. Bloated is having too much food/drink.

The baby/ies may only weigh as much as a small egg but they're surrounded by sac, fluid, placenta, your boobs have gone up etc...my layman's calculation is x3 weight vs baby.

We are doing well, and should be proud :)

pregnantmimi · 06/12/2011 00:14

Just like to add Im 38 weeks pregnant and I put 2 stone on in the first trimester and only 1 stone for the rest and lost half a stone without trying in the end so it doesnt mean your going to be massive you might just been holding alot of waterxx
