34 weeks pg. Sore, swollen hands all yesterday, puffy ankles, woke up just after 2am with a headache. Drank a pint of water to see if it was dehydration, but so far no sign of headache buggering off. MW unit told me to call Out of Hours GP, currently awaiting call back from said GP. Sent DH back to bed until he's needed, so I thought I'd see if I could call on MN for a bit of live support until the phone rings... Anyone there?

Thanks for stopping by :) Feel sicky too, but that could be the hysteria worry.

Feel half like I'm making huge fuss about nothing and half like I should be making DH race me into hospital and demand a check up - the MW makes you so paranoid about PE symptoms...

Well that's me off to be checked out. Time to wake poor old DH... again...

How did you get on? Hope it wasn't PE xx

deemented · 04/12/2011 07:05

Hope everythings ok x

Liskey · 04/12/2011 07:33

Hope your ok. I got diagnosed with pre-ecampsia at 36 weeks (though actually had it for a week beforehand i think as i'd had swollen hands and feetBlush) though no other symptoms. Your being very sensible getting checked!

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 04/12/2011 08:53

Had to drive over to the hospital for protein in wee and BP checks. Pee was fine, BP a touch high for me, but still within the realms of the norm so we got sent home again. I still have a headache and feel sick and I'm still all puffy, but whatever it is, it ain't pre eclampsia, which is nice to know.

Then collapsed gratefully into bed when we got home at 5am ad been sleeping, hence the late update.

Thanks for asking. Guess I'm just going to have to take things easy and hope I improve Xmas Smile

Did they do blood tests on you?

CarolCervix · 04/12/2011 08:56

did they take blood?

when are you being checked again?

ohbugrit · 04/12/2011 09:03

Keep going back if this continues. I was massively swollen, had intermittent headaches, intermittent proteinuria and after a week or two of coming and going from hospital, a few overnight stays, lots of blood tests it was decided that I was definitely brewing preeclampsia and I was induced. Felt like a fuss about nothing at the time but looking back I was lucky to have such diligent HCPs. Left to my own devices it could have been a bad ending. Don't dismiss these symptoms.

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 04/12/2011 09:35

Just BP and wee...

I have my 34 week MW appt on Monday though, so will bring it up if it's persisting - thanks all. I thought once I was given the all-clear then I didn;t need to worry any more.

If you still have the symptoms in the op you need to go back to hospital and have iron, blood count and liver function blood tests done.

Luminescence · 04/12/2011 09:42

ask the midwife how does she know its not HELLP

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 04/12/2011 10:03

OK... that's a bit concerning. I'll keep an eye on things today and make sure I quiz her tomorrow. I have to have a blood test then anyway. Thanks for the information.

OP posts:
Luminescence · 04/12/2011 10:12

Make sure the blood tests are the ones I said. Have you got any symptoms today?

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 04/12/2011 10:14

mild headache, feel sick (and I've had no nausea since week 14) puffy ankles, very achey hands and arms. Feel a bit fluey really. (and yes, I had my vaccination)

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 04/12/2011 10:14

iron levels were exceptionally good last time they were checked, 13 I think...

OP posts:
Luminescence · 04/12/2011 10:17

I think I would call your midwife and get checked today. Your iron would have been checked at 14 weeks. Have you got any pain in your rib area?

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 04/12/2011 10:20

Not constantly. Occasional twinges... and I think it was 28 weeks, so a little while ago.

OP posts:
Luminescence · 04/12/2011 11:11

I would get checked again today.

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 05/12/2011 14:23

Got the blood tests done - just waiting for results :)

Thanks for the support

What else did the midwife say?

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 05/12/2011 18:43

Reckons it's probably just a bug, but no harm in checking the bloods :)
