21 weeks pg. Now and then, about once or twice an hour ago I get a sharp pain, around the labia area. it only lasts a moment and then goes away. It seems to always be on the right hand side. What is causing this?

I hope you're feeling a bit better Kat? I'd like to know the answer to your question too as I've been having this off and on since this morning and I'm 19 weeks. Feels like a stabbing pain in the vaginal wall and only lasts a split second then goes, but it's starting to worry me. I had a scan last week and all was fine, and the doc checked my cervix and all was well.

I've had this on and off. I actually responded to another post about it yesterday so it seems quite common.

Someone ages ago dubbed it KNIF (knitting needle in fanjo) which I thought was both a funny and accurate description.

I did ask a consultant about it and he said it was nothing to worry about, just one of those things. I've had it recently and happened to have a cervical measurement afterwards (cervix was closed and fine) so it put my mind at rest it wasn't anything sinister...

If you are worried or the pain gets really bad speak to your GP though.

Thanks pink much appreciated. I didn't have it at all yesterday but just had a couple this morning. Everything points to it being a normal part of pregnancy but I'm such a worrier.
