Feel depressed today for no reason - is this normal?

Hi, I'm 21 weeks and today I feel really down. There's no reason for it apart from the fact I didn't sleep well and I'm really tired. Is it normal to have days like this? I feel fine usually and I don't know why I feel so awful!

I'd say it's normal to have blips like that unless it carries on. I've had a few random blue days just because I've been tired. Your hormones are going crazy. I'm 29 weeks now and get fed up/easily narked when tired.

If it carries on and is uncharacteristically you then worth mentioning to the midwife but if it's just the odd day, from mu experience I'd say that it entirely normal!

It'll pass. I hope you can put your feet up this evening.

Thanks, that really helps! I only feel like this every now and then, but never felt like this before my pregnancy. I think I'm just knackered!

I remember at about the same point in my last pregnancy I suddenly started getting really cross and intolerant about everything . My husband took to referring to me as 'the angry Easter egg' ...

I'm in a similar position. I'm 21 weeks, I am suffering quite a bit with insomnia, I feel very tired, very anxious, and keep crying a lot some times. I think the tiredness makes everything else worse to be honest.

Well a big hug from me to all of you. Take care of yourselves and eat lots of chocolate. You are not alone ...

It's perfectly normal to have up and down days, is this your first baby? Also do you know what you're having? I'm pregnant with a DD but have a toddler so am exhausted most of the time. Also this pregnancy has been an emotional rollercoaster, my theory is that i'm having a girl and the clash of hormones etc is having a bit of an effect. Of course this is just what I reckon regarding my pregnancy so feel free to disregard. Feel better soon and if it carries on give your mw a ring.

I'm having a girl and yes she's my first baby. It's very reassuring to know that other people are feeling the same - I have terrible mood swings and feel really enraged sometimes for no reason! Being unable to sleep isn't helping, plus the general anxiety that something will go wrong. The baby is tiny and I have another scan next week to make sure she's growing properly, so I feel worried about this.

I've been feeling a bit blue on and off for the last couple of weeks. I've been crying at absolutely nothing. Even at the supermarket when paying at the checkout (on the inside IYKWIM). I have 2 young DCs and its all getting a bit of a challenge and I do feel like I'm losing it a bit. I think extreme tiredness and what I believe to be a bit of a hormone surge just now is the cause. My bump has really popped in the past couple of weeks so maybe its linked?

Interesting you and sausage say that you are having DDs. I have a DD and a DS and I think secretly I'm having another DD this time round. With my DS, I had terrible migraines that I didn't get with my DD pregnancy. This time round no migraines, but lots of drama. Sounds just like my DD help! Grin

I'm keeping an eye on it though to make sure it is just a bit of a surge and tiredness. I do have moments of being positive so I don't think its anything more than that.
