here goes, there going to be alot to this!!
Felt a bit odd for last couple of weeks, then found a lump in one boob and had a major panic! Was visiting family last week and even got my sis in law to have a feel! Boobs were sore anyway as waiting for af... Now, my cycles range between 26 and 38 days, yesterday was day 39, so thought id better do a test. Picture the scene...at airport, try to explain what i needed in chemist... Sign language of course!! So, went and p on stick.... Positive. Sat on plane for 2 half hours saying to myself omg,omg omg...alot more times than that!! Arrived a destination, straight to chemist, bought a double clear blue, did one last night, pos..other this morn, pos.... So, me thinks its really true!
Not sure how i feel.... Partner, is just that really... Started about a year ago, bit of a friend with benefit, last 6months we have grown quite close, but didnt really think long term as hes 10 years younger... And im 41! Have no other children...am separated, not divorced, work abroad... And omg, dont know what to do!! Also, have been drinking quite heavily recently...and i smoke... Oh, and my mum dosnt even know i have a boyfriend!!!
Just needed to write it all down.....

Take a deep breath. Go and buy some folic acid. Throw out your fags.
Congratulations!!!

Doc in the UK is probably fine, as you must be very early. The main advice for early pregnancy is don't drink (or don't drink much - views differ - but keep it at a minimum anyhow), definatly don't smoke, and you need a folic acid supplement as it reduces the risk of spinabifida (sp?).

Keep stress levels as low as you can. And personally I think you should tell the baby's dad. If he's a half decent human being he will help you through this, and you can start making plans together.

But really... congratulations. I can see you're in shock, but 99 times out of 100 a baby is a very happy event!!

yummicheddars · 01/12/2011 16:55

Omg I'm saying omg for u ! I felt so happy reading it. Congratulations. The shock will soon turn to excitement :D

mrdarceych · 01/12/2011 17:22

Well, its funny... Just before i went to visit the family he said to me " we should have a baby" ...i just laughed it off, said i was too old, blah blah and put it out of my mind. Whilst i was away he kept asking if i had my "days" and he hoped not!! Wtf!! Anyway, when on the plane yesterday decided i wouldnt tell him yet... But after the 2nd test last night, i did... And he seems really happy!! Im crapping it to be honest!!!

Please hold my hand guys... Its going to be a journey!!!

Ill hold your hand alllll the way :) I'm 21 got a 2 and a half year old and 19 weeks pregnant again..I'm sure you can do it if I can and doing it again! Its amazing being a mum. Really is, everything will come natural, I had no idea how to look after a baby, or what to do in labour, fair enuf I was induced but when it got to the hard part, pushing, I was told I seemed like an expert! Mother instincts kick in, I managed to bring my little boy up perfectly healthy, don't worry. Enjoy it as hard as pregnancy can be to enjoy.

Tattymum · 01/12/2011 18:16

I was 41, you are so not too old. The fact that DP is so enthusiastic is very good sign - congratulations and enjoy

katkitya · 01/12/2011 18:18

Are you abroad working? It's very exciting. Did you want a family before now? I'm nosey as we are the same age.

Wow fantastic news, you'll be a great mum, i agree with Yummie, it will all come naturally to you, i have a 2yr old and i am 23 weeks with No2, both have been a surprise, and both were followed by weeks of excitement, fear and disbelief, and much OMG and WTFs but its the most wonderful thing in the world and i can't wait to meet babystance, that being said Dp is off to the vets next year Xmas Grin Holding your hand all the way!
