Do sonographers ever get it wrong?

I'm 33 weeks pregnant, and we were told it's a girl. The sonographer even went to the length of pointing out all the different girl bits when we had our 20 week scan, so we're pretty sure it's a girl and are planning accordingly. Has anyone been told one thing, and then get the other?

I've not known anyone personally that this has happened to but I hear it does. We've been told girl and there were two sonographers in the room who were pretty definite about it. But if she turns out to be a boy then what the hey. We do have loads of girl stuff but it's only left overs from DD, we've bought no new girl stuff so won't have lost out and the in laws would be delighted...

Did you and the midwife see the 3 white lines on the machine?

I was told girl for DC3, He's definitely a boy. DD1&2 were delighted! :o

I was told definitely girl a my nhs 20 week scan. Private scan at 28 weeks showed definite boy bits! I've got another 8 weeks to go but not 100% sure it's a boy despite being given photo evidence at the private scan Grin

I know two couples that have been told they where having one sex and given birth to the opposite.

The first couple wanted to know as the man was dieing, he went to his grave thinking he had a son and a daughter was born 2 months after his death, his widow was distraught.

The second was two doctors and they where told they where having a girl, the MIL refused to believe it and said it would be a boy, a boy was born.

Some friend have just had this happened. She's had several scans as she had problems in her last pg. She'd been told at 2 scans that this one was definitely a boy, but it's a girl.

I think they're just about over the shock.
