Pregnancy Test.....advice needed

Hi, I have just found out this morning that I am pregnant for the first time. The clear blue test which I did, predicted that I am 2-3 weeks pregnant. Luckily, I had a doctors appointment for something else so I told the doctor today. He said as my last period was the start of October I am now 2 months pregnant !! I am very confused. The 2 - 3 weeks would make more sense or do I just go with the date of my last period ?

Congratulations!! The due date is always taken from the date of your last period (first day) so the doctor would be right if you last one was early October. There's a due date calculator on here that may be useful for you.

That Clearblue test with indicator is the work of the devil. It has confused/scared the cr*p out of so many ladies on MN, me included.

I think in your case, the answer is that your HCG level drops after a certain point, and if you ready the instructions from the test (if I remember correctly) the indicator is less reliable the longer you've actually been pregnant, so if you are actually 8 weeks pg it won't be accurate anymore.

Unless you have polycystic ovaries or another reason for long/erratic cycles, I'd go with your doctor's dates. Your first scan will also accurately date the pregnancy.

Thanks very much for your advice, this is my first time on here today but I have a feeling I will become a regular.

The Clearblue test shows the number of weeks past conception you are not how 'pregnant' you are.

On the box on the outside there is a chart that shows you what the doctor will say compared to the test.

I too had my period start of October and when I did a digital test it showed 3+ on the clearblue which means I was 5+ weeks pregnant.

23rd July according to my rough calculation! The first day of my period was 17th October.

Like the others say though the dating scan is much more accurate so will find out then I guess!
