Leaking colustrum at 24 weeks - normal?

Hi all,

In the last couple of days I've noticed that my breasts are leaking a yellow/milky substance. Usually no more than a drop but once I got up and my t-shirt had a large soaked patch over one boob. I'm assuming it's colustrum (first baby so clueless in general!).

I wasn't worried about it until I read that this doesn't normally happen until the end of the third trimester - I'm still mid way through the second.

Has anyone else had this so early, and can it mean anything?

Thanks!

Hi, I don't know if it means anything. I myself leaked from about that time if not a little earlier, had to start wearing breast pads in bed to save the bed. My LO (now 11wks6days) was born 8 days late very healthy and is thriving on my endless supply of milk Grin

I had a similar ish problem, then woke up one morning at 35 weeks and my boobs were engorged and dripping colostrum and milk. Very wierd and totally freaked me out. Thought i was going into early labour (i had no other signs but i am a very nervous pregnant person) and rang the labour ward in a panic. They kinda laughed at me... Blush

All ok now, baby is a fat pudgy 5 month old now and right fom the beginning i've had an amazing supply of milk, i could shoot it across the room...

It is totally normal. It just means your body is getting ready, i wouldn't fiddle about with them too much as you may stimulate them more and you don't want to get engorged as it fecking hurts.

First time round I could express colostrum at 12 weeks.

This time round I've been able to get some right from getting the BFP!

I started leaking colostrum from about 16 weeks last pregnancy. DS thrived on my milk supply, and is still feeding now even when I'm 13 weeks pg with DC2, and my supply seems to have all but gone!

Ahhh thanks ladies that has made me feel a lot better Grin

100years, Plum and Kveta - congrats on the bumper milk supplies, I'm hoping it means the same for me!

Fliss - woah! I think I would have cacked myself if that had happened so early - it was enough of a shock just now Blush Must have super hormones!
