I'm 7+1 and have had three acupuncture session while trying to concieve last month. I have my next session on Monday and I'm not sure if I should go. I had a missed m/c back in may at around 7/8 weeks and I really want to be safe this time. Will acupuncture help? Or should I leave it till I'm past 12 weeks? My doctor was no help as she didn't seem to know much about it. Has anyone else had good/bad expriences in early pregnancy that have been helped....I could do with not feeling sick 24/7 that's for sure

my acupuncturist knew my history (m/c at 8 weeks) and refused to see me until I was 12 weeks. She said that she knew that she wouldn't cause a miscarriage but if I did miscarry I might blame the acupuncture. I went on to have it from 12 weeks all through my pg with dd2 and it was great.

I had acupuncture all the way through my pregnancy (and while trying to conceive). I had appointments every two weeks, so some of them were definitly in very early pregnancy. My acupuncturist had done some additional courses in acupuncture during pregnancy. I know there are certainly particular points they can work on to try and aleviate (sp?) morning sickness.

I had a fabulous pregnancy!

Why don't you phone your acupuncturist and talk to them - they might be able to advise you best.

Hi Strike1 CONGRATULATIONS !!!

I had acupuncture at 6 or so weeks & will be going back towards end of Jan when I will be 12 weeks. The lady I see is very confident of her skills with pregnancy, so I am confident.

She did treat me for some nausea, which has helped, although I am still feeling quite rotten. In a way I am thankful for it though, because I am taking it the hormone levels are still there...had my missed m/c in Aug last year.

BTW She is in Reading if this is any good for you ?

I had acupuncture (from about 8 wks) when pregnant with DD due to nausea -although it didn't stop it completely it eased it but it did help with energy levels.
Providing your acupuncturist takes a full history and is experienced with treating pregnant women I wouldn't have thought it was a problem

Hey Strike!
I had acupuncture whilst ttc and then every week for the first 12 weeks. A reputable practioner can advise but mine used the regnancy points to help strenghten the pregnancy and relieve nausea (I think it definitely helped me).As you know, I had also had a m/c.
I know that Zita West (midwife guru and acupuncturist) advocates acupuncture - maybe check her out? At the end of the day you have to do what you're happy and comfortable with.
Best of luck and congrats again!

Thanks all, I e mailed my acupunturist and he reassured me, and along with your good experiences I think I keep my appointment tomorrow. Hopefully it'll relaxe me for the next few weeks as this is the time I lost the last pg. Hears to happy pg's for everyone
