Hello
I hope someone can give me some advice - this is going to be a bit long winded so bear with me....!
I have just found out this morning hat I am pg with no.2 (yipee!).
However last week, the day before new years eve, my back went completely an I started taking ibuprofen (400g) and cocodemol (not at the same time). I had no idea I was pg at the time.On New years eve I started bleeding, but assumed it was AF come early, but it stopped as quickly as it started, a couple of days later I began to wonder if maybe it had been an implantation bleed, and now AF is late so I tested ths morning. I am worried that I might have done some damage, and maybe it wasn't an implantation bleed but something else. Please help!
Thanks X

I'm pretty sure both those drugs are fine in pregnancy. Maybe not max-dose-every-day-for-a-month fine, but fine.

Also, from what I know of fetuses (if they can be called that this early?), if you damage them around implantation time, they won't implant, and you wouldn't be pregnant.

You are almost certainly fine.

Thank you so much- that has put my mind at rest0

I've looked it up, ibuprofen is safe in the first two trimesters. cocodemol is codeine and paracetamol, I know paracetamol is fine in pregnancy. Codeine isn't great in pregnancy, I wouldn't take it now, knowing you're pregnant, but it's probably done no harm.

Thanks

I wouldn't take ibuprofen again either - paracetamol's safe though. You are very, very unlikely to have done any harm with the ibuprofen though.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Hi there
I suffer from arthritis and have to take strong painkillers on a regular basis,I take Kapake which is paracetamol and codeine.I have had two healthy little boys whist taking reduced doses of my painkillers and am on my third pregnancy,once I reach 12wks I reduce myintake to 4 pills a day and am told that this is fine for the babies but obvouisly if you can cope with the pain in another way it would be better.I unfortunately don't have that ption but my children have not suffered from it if that puts you mind at ease.

cocodamol is perfectly safe. was given this in epu as was in loads of pain. i'm now just over 8 weeks and they've found the heartbeat. try not to worry.

ibuprofen = bad
paracetamol and codeine = fine

(dont take a lot of codeine in the weeks before birth though as baby (and you!) may end up addicted.
